Russians . marching through Rou mania.. .Dwight Smith, prominent Tryon retired actor, was the guest speaker at the Tryon Rotary club Friday and told of his experiences on the stage with Richard Mans field, and seeing and hearing Edwin Booth. At Kotary Mr. Smith took the part of McBeth and delighted his audience with aMy?ts from the play of that name. ^Kson Jackson 3rd joined the ^Btary club and the membership button was presented by his fa ther, Nelson Jackson, Jr., a char ter member.. .The Tryon Presby terian church was dedicated Sun-' day because the building was free of debt. Rev. P. D. Patrick of Kings Mountain preached the sermon. Rev. S. Wilkes Dendy of Dalton, Ga. and Rev. D. M. Mc Geachy of Bessermer City, for mer pastors had parts in the service and congratulated the members ,on their achievements. Mrs. J. H. Gaze gave a brief out line of the church’s history which was started by Mrs. Lois Pres ton, mother of Dr. John J. Pres ton, and continued by Mrs. W. A. Schilletter andi Mrs. Gaze. The _Continued on Back Page_ WITH OUR ARMED FORGES Lieutenant and Mrs. UTarcus B. Caldwell are at their Try on home while Lieut. Caldwell is on leave from the Navy. Pvt. Mack Jenkins is home on furlough from Texas for a visit with Mrs. Jenkins who underwent an operation Friday at St. Luke's hospital. Pvt. Ralph Williams and Pvt. Arnold Williams of Camp Wheeler, Ga. are home pn furlough. Pvt. Billy Hipps of North Camp Hood, Texas, is home ori furlough. Mrs. Ralph Farthing has re turned from Camp Wheeldr, Ga. where she visited her husband, Pvt. Farthing. Sgt. and Mrs. Wm. Marshall Ballew arrived home during the weekend from Camp Shanks, New York. Pvt. Buford Burrell of Fort Ri ley, Kans. is home on furlough. Pfc Seth Yining, Jr. will re turn Tuesday to Fort Benning, Ga. after spending his furlough at home. Mountainside Sold A. W. Marker of Corvales, Am., has sold his large tract of land on the side of Tryon Mountain to J. A. Nolan of Shelby. Property is above Brookhill Farm. Sale made through C. J. Lynch.
