THUMB NAIL SKETCHES FROM HISTORY A Compilation of Incidents In Medieval and Modern History Which Might Have A Cur rent Significance. By George C. Dedmondt (Sacred Prophecy and Profane History) In these days one might well read the second chapter of the prophecy of Daniel, written about 600 B. C., and compare it with an cient, medieval and modern his tory. God, through His mouthpiece Daniel, prophecied four great kingdoms (temporal) and fixed their rise and fall. It is an his torical certainty that these king doms rose and fell on schedule, and in the sequence told to the Babylonian king. We have the Babylonian reign, followed by the dual kingdom of Darius the Mede and Cyrus the Persian ruling as a unit. They were the chest and arms of silver. Next the belly and thighs of brass is emblamatic of the Grecian regime. Then just be fore Christ came the Roman king dom which too, is in a manner a dual kingdom. The Byzantine or Eastern Roman Empire with its seat in Constantinople, and the Western Empire seated in Rome. Represented by the toes are the many kingdoms that have arisen since the decay of Rome, the last vpstige of which disappeared whe» the Pope lost the Papal States in 1870. There has been more blood spilled in an attempt to continue or reestablish these kingdoms af ter their prophetic dynasties had run their course than in all other wars combined. The present war if we are to value sacred prophecy, may well be -the last war for world domination. If we are to heed the prophecy of Daniel and the chron ology of Kingdoms, the Lord will be the next to establish a world wide kingdom. The Rock of our Salvation will break into pieces the j remnants of man made govern^ ments. The pre and post millenium ists can take over from here. His tory is written, but prophecy is too pregnant with possibilities for error by the finite. Further this deponent saith not.
