Women and children ac companied the men on steamboats, on horseback, in prairie schooners and wagons. They went to make it a home territory and courageously stayed to make permanent homes, despite the bloody years of border warfare over the slavery issue. They were strong, purposeful women who foresaw the opportunity for prosper ity and good homes for future gen erations. Kansas has a monument to them on the capital grounds at Topeka. Their grandsons battle for an unspoiled future for all the Nation and War Bond funds equip them. U. $. Treasury Department Two Pacolet Ifills Houses Sold This Week in Tryon E. Perry Manville figured in two real estate deals that were completed this week when the house of Mrs. Maude Brand was sold to Mr. and Mrs. George Dil lenborger. This sale was made through Mr. Manville and Tom Costa. The house of Miss Helen Roberts was sold to Mrs. Violet Parish-Watson of Fairfield, Conn. This sale was made through Mr. Manville and G. Harrison Bridge man. Both houses are in the Pac olet hills section of Valhalla off Warrior road. Mrs. Parish-Watson is a former Mryonite, and is a sis ter of Mrs. Carroll Rogers and of Ralph Erskine and Harol&^r skine. Her parents were piw^P’s in the development of Tryorn*^ Mrs. Frank Eaton of Morris town, and New York, is visiting Miss Helen Stearns. Mrs. Margaret A. Richards and daughter, Mrs. John S. Ripandel li have returned from their win ter home in Hollywood, Florida. Lt. Ripandelli is with the First Army Engineers in Germany.
