SPECIAL NOTICE If the official announce ment of the surrender of Ger many is not made today or to night the special program at Tryon Theatre will be held at 11a. m., on the day following the announcement. As this is being written the radios are playing patriotic music while waiting for the official an nouncement of the end of the war in Europe. 30 minutes after the siren sounds the people will go to the theatre for the special pro gram. Mrs. Jack Metcalf and baby, Linda, of Brunswick, Ga., are visiting Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Met calf. Sgt. Jack Metcalf is on Okin awa Island and writes that he is O. K., and that things are going well. He is sending home some packages. Guests at Oak Hall over the week-end include Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Lyles, from Asheville; Geo. Hutchinson, Chicago; and the fol lowing from Camp Croft, S. C.: Miss Phyllis Young, Cpl. V. J._ Morreale, Pvt. Geo. Garent, Pvt. S. A. Edwards, Cpl. C. H. Wil lard, Pvt. G- Fred Mein, Pvt. Leonard Parker, C. R. Shirley. Municipal elections will be held Tuesday in Tryon, Columbus and Saluda. The flags of the United Nations are being put up* today noon at the flag poles by the Boy Scouts.
