Mrs. J. 0. Hooper has returned from Charleston, S. C., and is re cuperating from pneumonia. Mr. Hooper went to Charleston for her. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bennett have returned from Fort Bragg where they visited their son, Hor ace, who is there after being in Europe where he was taken a pris oner by the Germans in the battle of the Bulge just before Christ mas. Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Wilson have heard from their son, Calvin, who was first reported missing, then as a prisoner. Now he is in a hos pital in England, and expects to ijturn to America soon. *S>gt. P. L. Barnette has received his discharge from the Army Air Forces at Sumter, S. C., and has returned to his home in Tryon. Capt. Jack Davenport visited Tryon and Landrum friends dur ing the weekend while enroute from Long Beach, Calif., to Wil mington, Delaware, where be will be stationed at 552 A. A. F. Base Unit, Wilmington Army Air Field, Wilmington, Del. A daughter was born to Maj. and Mrs. Charles Vernon Fowles of Quogue, N. Y., on Wednesday, May 2nd. Maj.
