Child Killed In Accident A young boy by name of Garrett of Mill Spring section, was killed Sunday afternoon when the truck in which he was riding hit an em bankment. Leroy Walker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milo Walker, and recently returned from overseas service, was driving, the truck and is in Columbus jail charged with reckless driving. Two other occu pants of the truck Misses Martha and Virginia Walker, ages 11 and seven, are in St. Luke’s hospital for treatment of injuries. Lieut. John Bruce Metcalf, ' J«nbardier, has returned home for ^■50-day visit with his parents, mr. and Mrs. G. E. Metcalf. Lieut. Metcalf landed in America at La Guardia Field on June 8. He was in a German prison camp for about nine months after being captured when he and three other members of his crew had to bail out over Albania. For about two days the men were associated with native Albanians (Chets), who were do ing guerrilla fighting before they were surrounded by larger Ger man force. Alewine and daughter, Rob ert Byars, age 7, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Byars of Columbus, af ter tonsil operation; little Miss Sheila Emory, 8-year-old daugh «,of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Em i of Saluda; Mrs. C. E- Scog s; Mrs. Merzie Foster of Co lumbus; Mrs. T. D. Hopkins of Hopkins, S. C.; Mrs. C. A. Mar tin; Mrs. Jean Larkin. Because of shorfage of sugar. I will bake only three times per week.
