C., FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 1948 Weather Thursday: High 44, low 32, rain 1.72 . . . Truman renews appeal for inflation curbs. In the meantime prices continue to go down. England has had to freeze prices on everything including wages . . . Gov. Cherry says high way surplus funds to be used for improving country roads. The State has a surplus of about five million dollars. Heavy rains and melting snow making almost floods in many sections of the nation . . . .Bari and to get over four million Mas of beef from Argentina. That .TOl decrease some of our shipments overseas .... The Hard of Hear ing Clinic is being held today at Oak Hall Hotel from 11 to 4 p. m. Mr. G; Stahle is in charge. A free test will be given anyone dropping in at the hotel . . . Thanks to Harold Jay for several copies of Georgia newspapers and to Wm. E. Knight for his old copy of the 10th Anniversary edition of The Bulletin, and to Dr. Alexander V. Dye, for a cbpy of Who’s Who in America. That will help to give us the lowdown on some of these new friends who invade Tryon from time to time tp enjoy the quaintness and hospitality of the community.
