Just where Dark Corner begins and ends has always been a matter of opinion as it covers an interesting and attractive part of two states which has produced many outstanding citizens. The Piedmont Boy Scout camp at the head of Lake Lanier has had electricity and city water for some time. A number of citizens seek ing sites of scenic beauty have their eves on that territory. The lack of good roads and modern conveniences have kept them away. The Brintnall roses at Seven Hearths are in bloom again and visitors are invited to see them. ' MRS. T. E. WALKER Mrs. Odella Walker, 84, of Lake Lure, widow of Thomas Ellis Wal der of Columbus, passed away on Wednesday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Meade M. Sim mons at Lake Lure. Funeral services for Mrs. T. E. Walker will be held Friday after noon at 2 at the Columbus Baptist Church with the Rev. LeRoy Lep pard and the Rev. Mr. Clapp offir ciating. Burial will be in Greer Creek Cemetery. The body will be at the McFarland Funeral Rome in Tryon until hour of service. Mrs. Walker was born in Polk County, the daughter of the late R. N. Johnson and Amanda Lank ford Johnson. She was a member of the Columbus Baptist Church. The deceased is survived by five daughters, Mrs. E. B. Cloud, Co lumbus ; Mrs. M. F. Burgess, Abingdon, Md.; Mrs. F. C. Head, Morganton; Mrs. R. A. Arledge, Rutherfoodton; Mrs: Meade M. Simmons, Lake Lure: two sons, R. H. Walker, Marion; T. F. Walker, Charlotte; two sisters, Mrs. Lealine Alewine, Tryon;' and Mrs. Ella Denton, Inman, S. C.; and one brother, Leonard Johnson, Tryon; also IS grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, Funeral arrangements will be an nounced by McFarland Funeral Home of Tryon. COURT NEXT WEEK Sheriff Loyd Panthgr stated Thursday that the second week of Polk County Superior Court (civil session) will be held next week and that the jurors who were originally summoned for the second treek wifi report at the Court House Tuesday morning at 9:30 o’clock for jury duty no jurors need appear Mon.
