Landrum Club Leads Ruritans
The Landrum Ruritan Club dom
inated Spartan District’s 1951 year
of work and received plaques on
Wednesday night for community
service and club expansion.
The attendance plaque went to
the Sharon Club, runner-up in
community service among the dis
trict’s 13 clubs.
The 31-member Landrum unit
carried out an 11-point Ruritan
service program including outstand
ing town * beautification, agricul
tural, charity and Boy Scout pro
jects. It was their second com
munity service achievement, having
taken district honors in 1949, with
Fairforest, the 1950 winner.—The

Plans Christmas Meeting
Fidelis Sunday School Class of
the Landrum Baptist Church will
meet at 7:30 Saturday night at the
home of Mrs. Nettie Goodwin for
r the Christmas meeting and social.
Members are to bring gifts to ex
change and they will share box sup
pers.

Dorothy Allen of Landrum was
admitted to St. Luke’s Hospital.
Patients discharged include Mrs.
Fred Powell and baby son of Try
on; Mrs. Foster Jackson and baby
son of Cooper’s Gap.
Mr. and Mrs. William C. Hooker
of Tryon are the parents of a
daughter born Dec. 13 at 3:30 a. m.
Post Office Open All Day

Fellowship Group of the First
Baptist Church meets tonight at
