The Tryon Town Council will
meet Monday at 7:30 p m. at the
Town Hall

home in Tryon and WLOS-TV

Safety Patrols
On School Buses
The District I Board of
Trustees voted Tuesday night to
put safety patrols on every bus in
School District I Patrols will be
recruited from students in grades
9-12. They will be furnished
raincoats, hats, belts and badges
and paid $30 a month District I
will be the first school district in
Spartanburg County to use paid
safety patrols on a district-wide
basis.

Leslie Pitton will be guest
speaker for the eleven o clock
worship service Saturday
morning, October 11, in the Tryon
Seventh-day Adventist Church
He will be speaking about the
second coming of Christ, and has
entitled his sermon "Sooner Than
You Think". Visitors are
welcome.
Before his retirement to his
home on Rt. 1, Tryon, Pitton was
Public Relations Director for be
Washington Adventist Hospital in
Takoma Park, Md. Prior to that
he was Public Relations and
Religious Liberty Secretary for
the Carolina Conference of
Adventists, with headquarters in
Charlotte, a position he accepted
from his post as pastor o

for Columbus, Ohio Thursday
afternoon to compete with
contestants from other towns and
cities across the country for the
title of Miss Columbus, U.S.A.
The trio left by air from
Charlotte for the three day
pageant that begins today with
a get acquainted luncheon for
the mayors and contestants from
18 towns across the Country
bearing the name Columbus. At
the luncheon, contestants will
exchange gifts from their
committees. Jennifer will give
bolts of fabric made and donated
by Columbus' Hatch Mill a
Division of Milliken, Co., and T-
sbirts carrying the Columbus

Tonight
This week all three area teams
play away from home.
Tryon at Edneyville
The Tryon Tigers travel to
Edneyville tonight without the
services of Jimmy Clement who
injured his knee last week
against Landrum. The
Yellowjackets are tough and in
Steve Musser have one of the
finest place kickers around. He
has a number of field goals to his
credit and one was for 43 yards.
Edneyville may have the best
team in the conference. The
Yellowjackets are too strong
Kickoff is at 7:30 p m
Polk Central at Cherokee
The Polk Central Patriots
travel to Cherokee. The Braves
are favored to win the Conference
and have a big tough line. The
Patriots gave the Braves a battle
last year before giving way in the
final quarter. Cherokee doesn't
score too much, but then neither
