Communication We do not need to be reminded that the world is in a state of peril and that our cho.ee of elected officials is more critical now than ever before in our history. We are up against a ruthless, deadly and powerful enemy, openly dedicated from the very beginning to “bury us. Why ha ve we not taken them seriously? Our leaders have been derelict in their sworn duty to protect our nation. And now that we have been weakened from within, we are threatened from without. Whichever candidates are chosen, I pray they will be chosen thoughtfully and knowledgeably and not emotionally or because of party prejudice. This is a time to select the best people who, regardless of party, will restore our country to its former power while we still have the right to vote. Without a strong America we stand to lose what little freedom we have left. Patricia C. Dressier 40 Years Ago Democratic candidate for Gov. J. M.
