Most of us will be glad to have
the election behind us. We get
tired of seeing the ads on TV and
in newspapers and hear them on
the radio, but isn’t it great to live
in a country where we have an
bpportunity to vote and express
our opinions. Many people in this
world don’t have any say so as to
who their leaders are.
The Spartanburg Palmetto
Statesmen Chorus will be at the
Fine Arts Center Saturday at8:15
p.m. It is an opportunity to hear
close harmony at its best.
Tryon Band Paper Drive is
Saturday 9 a m. to 1 p.m at the

$265,500 Loan
Approved For
Sheltered Workshop
Congressman Lamar Gudger
has announced that the Farmers
Home Administration has
approved a loan of $265,500 for
construction of a building for the
Polk County Sheltered Workshop.
The loan will be for 40 years at
5% interest.
The 10,000 square foot facility is
for a workshop and warehouse to
serve handicapped citizens in
Polk and Rutherford counties.

N. C. State Fair
Lori Walker and Amy
Westbrook have returned to
Green Creek after participating
in the Beef Cattle Division of the
North Carolina State Fair at
Raleigh.
Lori, showing her Simmental
heifer, won first place in her
class, first place in Fitting and
Showing, and was Reserve
Champion of the commercial
breeds.
Amy entered two Polled
Herford heifers and won 4th place
in one class and Sth in another
Lori is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Kenneth Walker and Amy is
