American Cars Are Safer Imported subcompact cars continue to have the worst accident claims records, according to a new insurance industry report. Compared with the imported cars, the U. S. made intermediates, especially four- door models and station wagons, have the best safety record and fewer crash-related injury claims, according to the Highway Loss Data Institute. The institute receives claims data from insurance companies and analyzes it.
