1600 STAINLESS Daily Bulletin. Eri., Dec. 12.1980 Trvon Back From Williamsburg A group of local travelers have returned from a four day visit to Williamsburg, Va. The trip was planned by the office of Tryon Community Schools as a cultural and educational offering to the community Highlights of the trip included a stop enroute, in Petersburg, Va., to see the Old Blandford Church, built in 1735 where, later, the Confererate States honored their soldiers by placing in the church memorial windows, designed and executed by Louis Comfort Tiffany. There are fifteen stained glass windows, considered one of the finest groups in the country. In addition to touring the historic Williamsburg area, exhibition buildings and Governor's Palace and dining in such famous restaurants as Campbell's Tavern and Kings' Arms Tavern, the group also took side trips to Yorktown where the Visitor's Center offers movies of the revolutionary days and the battle of Yorktown. Enroute home the group visited Jamestown, site of the first English settlement. The group included: Rose White. Minto Henderson, Sadie McKaig. Alice Tennant, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Thurber, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Woltman, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bates, Alice McClain, Harriett Rockefeller, Dorothy Leopold, Marjorie Reeves. Anne Brady, Alice Parsons. Grace Stanley, Hildcgarde Safford, Marguerite Voso, Phyllis Prout, Urselle Turner, Kathryn Garrett, Doris Chevalier, Dorothy Yerkes, Lucy Cate, June Sayre, Irene Swiney. Ann Jaeger, Emmie Mackay and Lee Mueller. Plans are now being finalized to take a group to the famous festival of the arts, “Spoleto" in Charleston, S. C., June 5, 6,7 and 8.
