Asks That Lynn
Be Re-Instated
The Polk County
Commissioners met 16 November
1981 in the Columbus Town Hall,
Chairman Arledge announced
that the grant of $18,000 (with a
$2,000 county match) for the
emergency communications
system had been awarded by J.
R. Reynolds.
Phillip Pleasants requested
the commissioners to ask the
state legislature to reinstate
Lynn as a town with the charter
they used to have. Actually they
wish for a bill to repeal the bill
which repealed the township act
The Commissioners voted to
forward the petition to the
Legislature with a favorable
report.
The request for the names of
those persons aided by the Soil
Conservation service came up
again. Attorney Foster was
directed to write letters to
Secretary Grimsly, as suggested
by the commission, and to the
commission for reports and
names.
The Community Based
Alternative part of the Juvenile
Justice Delinquency Prevention
program received $1022 more
than expected; this was matched
by $200 county money. The
commissioners bought a van
from the Area Mental Health for
$1.00. The Green Creek Country
Club subdivision plat was
approved. Jack Morse was
appointed to the Planning Board
