The Weeders Garden Club met
Jan. 3rd with Mrs. J L Petty in
Landrum Discussions were held
on birds and horticulture hints for
January. The spring meeting of
the East Piedmont District
Garden Clubs of S C. will be held
March 13th at Brannons
Restaurant with the Garden
Clubs of Landrum serving as
hostess clubs.

The Republicans will have a
primary for County Commission

three spots The Democrats have

incumbent Rachel Ramsey.
In the Sheriff's ace. incumbent
Boyce Carswell and Don Splawn
will compete in the Democrat
Primary while the Republicans
failed to have a candidate In the
Clerk of Court race. Judy P
Arledge. Democrat incumbent
was the only candidate to file and
will not have an opponent in the
primary or general election.
In the non-partisan school
board race. Geoffrey Balkam in
Green Creek and Ann P
Whitmire in Cooper Gap will not
have opposition. In Tryon
Township, incumbent Georgia
Pack and Bill McKaig have filed
for the seat and in Columbus
Township incumbent Phillip
Fischer and Phillip Fcagan have
filed for the single seat.

The Landrum Garden Club will
meet Thurs.. Feb 8 at 3 p m at
the home of Kay Willard The
program will be presented by

meeting at 7:30 pm on

headquarters on Peak Street in

Softball Meeting

The Tri-County Softball
League will hold an
organizational meeting on

Log House. Harmon Field. Tryon
for all teams, men and women
that would like to enter the Slow-
Pitch Softball League at Harmon
Field for the 1990 summer

Miss Barrie Lewis has
accepted a position as Band
Director at Pickens County High
School at Jasper. Ga. A graduate
of Landrum High School in 1985.
she is a December graduate of
University of South Carolina at
Columbia where she received a
Bachelor of Music. She is the
daughter of Mrs. Charles Barnett
of Columbus and Charles Lewis
of Inman. S.C.
