Baptist Church at 4:30 p.m. where the Rev. Joseph R. Samuels officiated.
Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family

2:00 p.m. in Clark S. Brown & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. S. F.
Hairston, officiating. The remains did repose in the funeral home
urtil the funeral hour. Interment was in the Piney Grove AME

of Winston-Salem and a retired employee of Piedmont Natural Gas
Co. and First Federal Savings and Loan Co. Mr. Gwyn was a
faithful member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, the
Travelers Club and Love, Hope and Charity Community Club.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs.?Lula B. Gwyn, of the home, one
daughter, Mrs. Margaret (Peggy) Adams; two brothers, Isaiah
Gwyn and Anderson Gwyn, Jr.; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth
Wiseman; mother-in-law, Mrs. Essie H. Robinson; one siste-inlaw,
Mrs. Cora Gier; one brother-in-law, Frank Grier; an anunt,
Mrs. Geneva Vestal, all of Winston-Salem; other relatives and
friends. Funeral services were conducted Tuesdav at 4!00 n m at
Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Oscar B. Cook
officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery. The
family recieved friends 7 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, at Forsyth
Funeral Home. The family request in lieu of flowers that
memorials be made to Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church
Building Fund.

Mrs. Blanche Morgan Hobson
? A4fs. Blanche Morgan Hobsorvof^554-ShawT*oad died Tuesday,
. July 31, 1984, at the Forsyth Memorial Hospital. She was the
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hoyl Morgan, who were
pioneers in transportation for the city of Winston-Salem. She attended
the public schools and graduated from Atkins High School.
She pursued an advanced education at Winston-Salem State
University. Mrs. Hobson received a Masters Degree in Elementary
Education for the University of Connecticut at Stoors, Conn. She v
married the late Demby C. Hobson, who was a retired school principal.
Community organizations in which she held membership and
was a contributing participant were: The Zeta Phi Beta Sorority,
the American Association of University Women, the Silhouettes,
the United Presbyterian Women, the Carver Community Club, the
Carver Democratic Precinct, the National Education Association,
the Tawasi So&kli Club, the F.A.T.A Threatre Guild, and the
Beautification Committee for the city, by the Mayor's appointment.
Mrs. Hobson was a charter member of the Couples Social
Club. She was a volunteer at Reynolds Health Center. She was a
retired teacher from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School
system and completed her teaching career at Walkertwon Elementary
School. Mrs. Hobson was a concerned neighbor and a lover of
people. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Thelma Morgan Hines and a
devoted nephew, Charles H. Jones, IV, both of this city; several
nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. A
memorial service was held on Thursday, August 2, 1984, at 4:00
p.m. at the Grace Presbyterian Church, with Rev. L.V. Lassiter officiating.
Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of

Mrs. Martha Rudisull
Mrs. Martha Rudisull, 2215 N. Cleveland Avenue, passed Monday
August 6, 1984 at the Forsyth Memorial Hospital. She was
born in Rock Hill, S.C., and a Baptist by Faith. She is survived by:
1 daughter, Mrs. Mary Barrett, of the home. Funeral services are
incomplete at this time.

Mr. James Edward Connor, 645 N.W. Blvd., passed at an early
hour Saturday unexpectedly, at the Forsyth Memorial Hospital. He
was a native and resident of this city, a retired employee of the
| Winston Leaf House and Piedmont Leaf Tobacco Company. He is
survived by: 1 sister, Mrs. Rebecca Connor Benson, of this city, 1
brother, Mr. Henry D. Connor, of this city, a host of neices,

Bishop Joseph Douglas White, 519 W. 8th Street, passed Tuesday
at the V.A. Hospital, Salisbury, N.C. He was a native of
Macon, Georgia, a member of the Bibleway Apostolic Church in
Kernesville, N.C., where he was former pastor and Bishop. He is
I survived by: 1 daughter, Mrs. Shirley Mclver Smith, Kernesville,
N.C., 4 sons, Josesph D. White Jr., Chicago, 111., Isaac M..White,
Washington, D.C., John H. White and Reginald White, both of
5 Kernesville, N.C., 17 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 2
| daughters-in-law, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were
conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Gilmore Memorial Chapel
with interment in the Maplewood Cemetery, Greensboro, N.C. The

Announcing the passing of Mr. Troy Spencer, age 74, of 420
Bacon Street. Mr. Spencer passed on Tuesday evening, July 31,
1984 at the Forsyth Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Mr. Spencer was a native of the Henry County, Virginia and had
lived in this city for more than 60 years. He was of the Christian
faith and was a veteran of World War II. He was a retired

survived by 3 sisters, Mrs. Mable Price of this city, Mrs. Dallas
Sims of Detroit, Michigan and County Commissioner Mrs. Mazie

Anson County, N.C. Mr. Tillman is survived by 5 daughters, Mrs.
Tharrer McCormiek of Clemmons, N.C., Miss Betty Tillman of
the home, Mrs. Gloria Blount, Mrs. Sarah Clark and Mrs. Marlene
cox all ot this city, 2 sons, Mr. William T. Tillman and Mr.
Herbert Tillman both of this city, 1 brother, Mr. Fred Tillman of
Albermarle, N.C., several nieces, nephews and a host of other
relatives and many friends. Funeral services were conducted on
Saturday afternoon August 4, 1984, at 2:00 p.m. from the Poplar
Hill Baptist Church with the District Bishop, W.T. Barnes officiating.
Interment followed in the family plot of the Williams
Cemetery in Anson County. The family may be reached at the
home of the daughter, Miss Betty Tillman, 703 Powell Street.

Rev. Justus Ezra Roberts
Announcing the passing of the Rev. Justus Ezra Roberts, age 84,
of 4311 Carver Road. Rev. Roberts passed on Friday, August 3,
1984 at the Silas Creek Manor following an extended illness. Rev.
Roberts was a native of Morganton, N.C. having lived in this city
since 1965. He attended the Biddle College, now known as Johnson
C. Smith University in Charlotte, N.C. Rev. Roberts was a
graduate of the Howard University Law School in Washington,
D.C., and had practiced law in Danville, Va. and Tacoma
Washington. Rev. Roberts attended the Western University of
Theology in Kansas City, Kansas. He graduated in 1941. Rev.
Roberts was an ordained minster of the A.M.E. Church and had
minstered in Yuma, Arizona, Portland Oregon, San Francisco,
Califorinia, and Oakland, California. He was a veteran of World
War 1 and a member of the St. James A.M.E Chruch.
Rev. Roberts is survived by 1 sister, Mrs. Julia Roberts Scott, of
the home, 1 half - brother, Rev. Gustavus Roberts of Chatnooga,
