The guest speaker will be the Rev. Tom Pickens of Crenshaw Christian Center of Los Angeles. The 12 Tribes of Israel captains are Narvie Tucker, Jack Nelson, Johnnie Jackson, Vernon Jones, Charles France, Charlie Henderson, Tommy Hicks, Kevin Parrott, Ronald Penn, Michael Benton, Ver non McEachem and Ronald Jordan. Saturday’s schedule of events will include coffee and donuts in the fellowship hall, 8 a.m.; interces sory prayer, 8:30 a.m.; the Rev. Whitfield, pastor of Agape Faith Church in Clemmons, on "Hus bands Building Relationships with Their Wives and Children," and Marilyn Gool of Victory Christian Center in Charlotte on "What Every Woman Wished Men Knew About Women," at 9:30 a.m.; lunch in the fellowship hall, nocsi; and the Rev. Tom, 1 and 7 p.m. Sunday's scheduled will include speakers Tim Oakes and Nathan Thompson, 8 aun.; the Rev. Tom Pick ens, 11 a.m.; and "The 12 Tribes of Israel” drama, 6 pjn. 'Baby Contest' winners crowned at Galilee Baptist program The Junior Usher Board of Galilee Baptist Church sponsored a Senior Citizens’ Baby Contest Sunday, Nov. 6, at 4 p.m. at Galilee. The contestants were Cora Ingram, George Lyons, Modell White and Dorothy Linton. The sponsors of the program were Vanessa Lyerly and Doris Coker.. Cora Ingram was the winner of the baby contest. She is the mother of 15 chil- Anthony Hines to celebrate second pastoral anniversary The Rev. Anthony L. Hines, pastor of Second Institution Baptist Church, will celebrate his second pastoral anniversary Sunday, Nov. 13. The Rev. Virgil Goodwin, the associate minister of Zion 'R-Day' Clean-up efforts benefit children's hospital The Winston-Salem Clean Community Committee Inc. has announced the results of "R-Day” heldOcL 15. More than 27 tons of recy clable materials were donated by the cidzens at two coIlecUon sites. The committee collected 14,245 pounds of glass, 31, 940 pounds of newspaper, 7,880 pounds of magazines and 430 pounds of aluminum cans to be recycled. W-S Urban League to hold Health Fair The Winston-Salem Urban League will sponsor its annual Health Fair Nov. 17 from 9 a.m. unUl noon at their facility located 201 West Fifth Street. Acting President Hazel Brown states that the theme of this year’s fair is "Fimess for Life: Education/Exercise/Examina tion." Brown stated further that the Urban League remains firmly committed to improving the quali ty of life of the "total" individual. "The purpose of this event has always been to promote and encourage good health habits and preventive health maintenance. Older adults and particularly minorities clearly remain at risk when it comes to certain health disorders. According to Cleo Solomon, Health Fair Coordinator, local health professionals will provide free screening in areas as choles terol; vision; dental; and blood pressure. Soloman also stated that local health care agencies are working cooperatively with staff to provide participants with a wide range of information based on current interest. Bowman Gray School of Medicine; The American Cancer Society; Alzheimer’s Support Network; American Heart Association; and Mental Health Association are among those that will be present. Special workshops and demon strations will be ongoing through out the morning. No admission will be charged. The public is invited. A Black college gave me confidence and a support that was always there when 1 needed it!'
