Ray donates $30,000 for 1 new church school building , SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE R. Lewis Ray, chairman and chief executive officer of Ray Inter national Ltd., has given $30,000 to the Ephesus Junior Academy Building Fund. Ray International Ltd. is an I II V V 3 I 111 V II I banking spe cialty firm, which pri marily acts as an intermedi ary in matters such as merg ers, acquisi tions. divesti tures, lever aged buyouts, joint ven ? ? l R. Lewis Ray lures, raising venture capuai anu initial public offerings. This donation increases the total donations given to Ephesus Seventh-day Adventist Church and Ephesus Junior Academy for developmental purposes to SI 10,000 since 19%. Some of the other uses of the funds donated by Ray include start-up money for a preschool program known as Ephesus Learn ing Center, and six computer sys tems and the other equipment needed to establish a computer lab oratory for Ephesus Junior Acade my. Ephesus Junior Academy, a K 8 church-operated elem?ftidry school, was established in 1957 and initially housed in the basement of Ephesus Seventh-day Adventist Church at its former church facility located at the corner of Third Street and Dunlieth Avenue. In the early 1980s, the church purchased from the city of Win ston-Salem a 6.5-acre tract of land, bounded by Cleveland Avenue, Thirteenth Street and Cornelius Court, subject to the condition that a portion of the land be used to build an educational facility for Ephesus Junior Academy. Parkt Goodwill Baptist Church to host Watchnight Service '99 Dec. 31 SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE The Goodwill Baptist Church family would like to extend an invitation to you to come out apd enjoy Watchnight Service '99. The service will be held at the church Friday, on Dec. 31, at 10 p.m. Pas tor Philemon A. Samuels has a message from God that will surely set the tone for the upcoming mil lennium, one which will motivate Christians to be more effective in the upcoming year and that will surely have people to give their lives to Christ. Pastor Samuels asks all atten dees to bring one glove that can fit on their hands. Breakfast will be served immediately following the service. Goodwill has grown mightily, by the grace of God, under the leadership of Rev. Samuels. Some of the ministries started under his guidance since he became pastor in 1990 include a Youth and Young Adult Ministry, Public Relations Committee, Daughters of Deborah Women's Ministry, Mighty Men of Valour Men's Ministry, Wednesday morning and evening prayer and Bible study. Lady Gloria Samuels Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church celebrates Women's Day 1999 SPECIAL TO THE CHRONICLE Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church's annual Women's Day celebration was a success both financially and spiritually. The theme for this annual cele bration, "Reaching forth from Goler to God in the power of the Holy Spirit," was beautifully rein forced through the words of the speaker, Diana Jones Wilson.
