Burgess is a slim, serious and smart forward or guard who can play with the best of them, while Perez is a cute, skillful, quick and savvy point guard that hits the court ready to play almost every game. Both of the girls play on the New School squad in the Josh Howard Basketball League at Reynolds Park. They also play AAU basketball, but one can catch them playing in a number of leagues around the city. "We just love to play," said Burgess. "We're having a Tot of fun too. It's a lot of fun playing against boys." That's nothing new for the duo either. They've been playing against boys for as long as they both can remember. Burgess began to play when she was 4. Her father taught her how to play. Perez, who was taught basketball by her uncles, started when she was 3 years old. "My uncles taught me how to do my crossover," Perez said with a smile. "I like to watch Dwyane Wade too. They taught me a lot about basketball. I've really only played against boys." Assistant coach Pam Benton added: "It's a joy to coach two players like them. Celeste has a lot of ability. She's a wonderful defender. She has great open court vision, and she has long arms. Her reach is amazing. Tayana is our floor general. She's also very quick. They both have a great feel for the game. They really do remind me of Porsche and Camille." Benton might know how similar the two young bas ketball players are to Jones and Little. She was their first coach outside of recreational basketball. Benton coached Little and Jones when tlfey were 10 on a team known as the Silver Aces. "I know she was my first coach," Jones said. "... and me and Camille started together. I think she was our first coach ." Benton even said that she got flashbacks of Jones and Little when she saw Perez and Burgess play for the first time. "That's exactly why I got them," Benton said. "Coach (Belinda) Howard actually NCCU announces Moton as new assistant NCCUphoco Former player LeVelle Moton during his NCCi' days. Perez launches up a shot attempt. which is an all-girl squad, is presently sitting at third place in the Josh Howard Youth Basketball League. The league playoffs begin next week. The New School squad has a number of other talented players, but it's not odd to catch fans and other parents talking about the play of Perez and Burgess on the court. "It doesn't matter if their team is losing either," said McCorkle. "People like to watch them play. The sky is the limit for those girls. I really believe they're going to be better than Porsche and Camille. That's not saying anything bad about Porsche and Camille." "I just think these two girls have a chance to learn more because they are com ing after them," McCorkle concluded. "It's really some thing how much better girls are getting at a young age. Girls are starting to play bas ketball and other sports at a younger age now. I'd like to see this whole team when they get older, especially lit tle Porsche and Camille (Perez and Burgess)."
