Galloway will be celebrated for her hard work and dedication to the ministry while serving as Interim Pastor of Morning Star Missionary after the sudden passing of Pastor Donald L. TifcCmi Lesson Scripture: I Peter 2:1-10 Lesson Aims: To summarize what it means to be "chosen; " to understand that believers are respon sible for their behavior; and to rejoice being a part of the " royal priesthood." Background: The early church needed some inspiration for the days ahead. Peter, the apostle to the Jewish converts, recognized that the persecution, ridicule and discrimina tion would wear them down. His writings were designed to instruct the believers about the New Community. Last week, our lesson Mildred Peppers ~Sunda> School Lesson taught us to be holy. This means to separate ourselves from worldly things and to concentrate on living a life of love (the nature of God). Holiness is not a list of do's and don't's. As Roman hostility mount ed, Peter informed the scattered Jewish believers ( 1:1) how to handle suffering. "God's prescription for suffering people calls for holiness, submission, and acceptance of the amazing truth that suffering can be a gift from Him" (Richards' Complete Bible Handbook). Suffering, here, in this lesson, is based on persecution (wiping them out), not a series of unjust laws. Lesson: Salvation work was completed in Jesus' death and resur rection.
