auction of miniature homes by
local artists, was presented by
the Center for Home
Ownership, Goler Community
Development Corp., S.G.
Atkins Community
Development Corp. and
Associated Artists of Winston
Salem. Leonard Ryden Hurr
Realty was the sponsor.

Rescue Mission combines two thrift stores

The Winston-Salem
Rescue Mission downtown
thrift stores have become a
regular stop for bargain
hunters from the Triad area.
The two thrift stores, located
one block apart in downtown
Winston-Salem (7th & Oak
Street and 7th & Trade
Street), have offered shoppers
incredible deals on furniture,
clothing. appliances and
household items for years
Now. those shoppers will
be able to browse for bargains
under one roof. The Rescue

rescue mission
merchandise from the small store, which offers clothing and
house holditems, on Trade
Street to the 40,000 square
foot warehouse store on Oak
Street last Friday. After much
upfitting and refurbishing, the
combined store was expected
to open this week.
Store sales account for
nearly 25 percent of the min
istry's overall operating rev
enue, of which, close to 85
percent of every dollar goes
directly to client programs
and services.

yard sale to benefit
the programs of its
Kernersville office
on Saturday,
October 16, from 8
a.m. - 1 p.m. at its
location at 431 W.
Bodenhamer St.
Treasures such
as jewelry, holiday
decor items, house
wares, toys, glass
ware. small appli
ances, lamps, pic
tures, sporting
goods, books and
other items will fill
the parking lot
adjacent to Crisis
Control Ministry.
Items are priced
low ~for a quick
sale.
Longtime vol
unteer and yard sale
chair Ruth Bailey
commented. "There
is no place left to
walk in the attic
and items are
spilling out into
other rooms. This
is going to be a
gigantic yard sale!
We hope to raise
$2,500 or more
from the proceeds
to help Crisis
Control* ^ielp those
in need in our com
munity."
