HAPPY CROWD These smiles mean that after eight long, hard
months of cooperative efforts, the stockholders of the Lillington
Industrial Development Company have brought their dreams to
reality. Here are some of the stockholders as they met Friday night
in their new $135,000 industrial building to push the final stock
sale necessary to finish payments on the building. No money was
borrowed to buy the land or tp build; all costs of construction will
be met by sale of stock. The Lillington Garment Company, makers
of men’s sports shirts, already are occupying the handsome new
structure, one of the state’s finest. Date of appropriate dedicatory
ceremonies and an open house will be announced later. W. A. John

Lockamy Funeral
To Be Saturday
George Thomas Lockamy, 79,
died at his home on Dunn Rt. 1
Thursday morning at 8:20. Mr.
Lockamy had been ill for about
iwo days.
Funeral services will be held
Saturday afternoon at 2:30 from
the Mount Zion Church. The Rev.
P. O. Jackson of Erwin, will offici- _
ate, and the body will lie in state fa
at the church tor one hour before
’ the service. Burial will be in the
church, cemetery.
A native of Sampson County, Mr.
Lockamy was a farmer and had
spent his entire life in the neign
borhood where he was born.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs.
Aquilia Smith Lockamy; one son,
Kc-ivie Lockamy; one daughter,
Mrs. Joe B. Barefoot; all of Dunn,
Rt. 1; one grandson, one brother,
Charlie Lockamy of Fayetteville,
and son sister, Mrs. Maggie Bass
of Wade, Rt. 1. |

Borcherding, a San Mateo police
man, decided today he has a safer
job than his wife, Jean.
Mrs. Borcherding works for a
San Carlos electric company as an
assembler of electronics devices.
When quitting time came she hap
pened to be standing in the way
of 200 fellow employes.
Bowled over in the rush, Mrs
Borcherding was knocked uncon
scious and suffered cuts and brui
ses.
