PAGE SIX Erwin Men (Continued from Page One) Mr. Tart about the incident when he came home and Tart went across the street to John Lock amy’s store and filling station in search of Goodwin. When he found Goodwin, Moore said, he plunged a pocket knife into hs chest twice just below the heart. Moore said Goodwin retaliated by slashing Tart’s throat. The officer said he swore out the warrants after talking with both men and after they refused to take action themselves. “I don't think a crime that ser ious should go unpunished." said the officer. Moore also charged Goodwin with assaulting Mrs. Tart. Both men were freed under bond of S3OO each. Mrs. Tart is one of the county’s best known and most successful business women. She owns and operates a large business establish ment in South Erwin and also owns other business interests.
