Two policemen were having a coffee break in the back room ol the tavern while two gunmen and an accomplice cleaned out the cash register Tuesday night. BRIDGE BENEFIT The Junior Woman’s Club Bridge Benefit will be held Tues day night at 7:45 at the club house. Tables for both bridge and ! canasta will be set up. Prises will be given fur high and low scorer* in each game in addition to dool prizes. Refreshments will also b« served. Tickets are $1. Two Receive Road Terms Two defendants were sentenced to the roads Friday by Vice Re corder Jesse Sherrill in Benson District Recorder’s Court. Chester McGee of Benson drew a 30-day term for public drunken ness and loitering. Jarvis Byrd of Benson received a 30-day sentence for public drunk enness. Paul Joseph Lane of Fort Bragg was fined $100 and costs for drunk en driving. W. T. McLamb of Route 3, Ben son, was Judged guilty of three charges of driving after his opera tor’s license had expired. On each count he was fined $25 and costs. Three defendants drew suspend ed terms. Thaddue Coats of Benson, con victed of public drunkenness, re ceived a 30-day term, suspended on payment of costs. For being publicly drunk and disorderly, J. W. Hudson of Ben son was given a 30-day term, sus pended on payment of costs. Wilbert Capps of Raleigh was convicted of speeding. A 30 - day road term was suspended on pay ment of costs. Taxed with the costs for speed ing were Julia Carolyn Peterson of , Clinton, Jordern Osteneorser ol Ontario, Canada, and James Her man Nordan of Lucama. [ Linwood Clifton Jackson of Coats paid the costs for reckless driving, Ransom Penny of Route 1, Smith field, was judged guilty of assault with a deadly weapon and using profane language. He was fined $20 and costs. ' Lee W. Stancil of Benson paic the costs for public drunkenness. In the case against Rupert Bell, Negro charged with assault, the Coutf held that the prosecution was frivolous and ordered that the prosecuting witness, Emma Green, be taxed with the costs. GRANGE MEETING “Agriculture in Action” was the program theme at the Midway Grange meeting on Monday even ing, Feb. 3, when Oliver Manning, Midway Agriculture teacher, pres ented a very informative discus sion and slides of a portion of his summer FFA Good Will Tour of Europe. During the business session, Earl Lockamy, Master, presided. There were 24 members and three visitors present. Plans were discussed of joining the Westbrook Grange in forming a degree team to present a degree at the Pomona Grange. Further details will be completed when the Pomona Grange meets with the Mingo Grange on Feb. 13. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday evening March 2nd.
