F-R E-E- DELIVERY Letter To The Editor TO THE EDITOR I take issue with the words of Holt McPherson editor of the High Point Enterprise before the Kiwanians in Greensboro as re ported In the Greensboro Daily News 8-14-64 wherein he condemn e dand critlcezed and complained against the evil of Letter-Writers charging thorn as “Hate Peddlers” and otherwise damaging. Let me remind him that we are in the USA and not Russia and that here editors or news media should have no monoply or censorship of free independent speech while we remain a free society. Such re marks sugests thought c ontrol and that while many think we are in socialism, that communion is the ultimate goal. Many letter writers fear the danger of liberal editors and news media, that seeks to what they 6ee as the last hope for free speech in the de fense of liberty. Often the voice of letter writers is their only de fense and protection against news management and thought control. If the liberal editors and news media would grow up and get in step with the changing times and iorget yesterday and usfe their power and influence in fair and reasonable and responsible man ner, there would be much fewer letters. Many feel that they are being sold a bill of goods, andthat Washington has the one and only recipe as the cure all of present day problems and the only solu tion. They often preach the false doctrine that the future lies in spending to riches and that age old handouts are necessary and essential for further progress and growth. We are passing from yes ter day and living a naw life and hope tor a better future. The li beral editor* and news media u*e so many words-relative terma-balf Iruths-words out of context-the Wg lie approach-one aided opin ions-one sided exposures and sec tional views that they confuse and divide and cause many to wonder where we are and where we are headed. Letter writers feel that we are entitled to unbiased, good and reasonable and respon sible press reporting, that Will give fair, reliable and good lea dership. In the present state of things it is not surprising that we have so many letter writers, who hope they can thus cause at tention to be given to morality and law and order and " check growing graft, greed, morals, crime, lawlessness, riots and even revolution. Many feel that minority groups have captured the party and Washington and demand privi leges that cannot be fulfilled and at unknown price for release. The real pressing present day issues are moral leadership, honest go vernment, excessive spending and wise use of tax payers money, all of which are so necessary and essential for the preservation of liberty and freedom. Many belleve that Uncle Sam is now the Santa Claus of moat of the world with little love and respect or prestige anywhere. They feel that there should be some end to the packages that Santa Claus can hand out, especially since his generosity is dependent upon the gifts of mankind and our ability to pay. Possibly We will not have to shoot Santa Claus because his packages may give out and he will just fade away. Futher we should return to sanity and principle and truth and free enterprise and freedom while there is yet time. WALTER LEE JOHNSON MISSED UK BUS GRIFFYDAM, England (UPI) — The local council which spent 00 pound* $108 putting up a new con crete bus stop shelter, said today it will have to spend another 20 pounds ($168) putting*up a new con it was misplaced far away from any bus route “The puzzling thing,” a council spokesman said, “is that while the shelter was being built no villager throught to tell us that we were putting it up in the wrong place ” Too Late To Classify FOR SAL£: Console piano in first class condition.
