r our New Schools Get Kindergarten Classes Mrs. Felicia Greenfield ..Women's Day Speaker Little Rock To Hear Mrs. Greenfield Woman’s Day Service will be observed at Little Rock A.M E. Zion Church, corners of Myers and Seventh Streets, on Sunday morning. Guest speaker for the 11 o’clock ser vices will be Mrs. Felicia Black Greenfield, wife of Dr. Wilbert Greenfield, President of Johnson C. Smith Univers ity. Mrs. Greenfield has been engaged in Biological Research, the Department of Pharmacology at the State University of Iowa. She is a U S. Army veteran and holds degrees in Biology, Chemis try, and Reading. Before coming to Charlotte, Mrs. Greenfield worked in the Jackson, Mississippi School System as a teacher, Reading Specialist, and Assistant Co ordinator of Inservice Train ing Programs for Teachers. While living in Jackson she organized Girl Scout Troop No. 33 for retarded girls and served as its leader. Mrs. Greenfield is also affil iated with the NEA, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, and The Links, Inc. The Rev. Milton White is pastor of Little Rock A.M.E. Zion. Mrs. Rosa W. Philson is coordinator for the Woman's Day activities.Mrs. Hoey will be the mistress of .ceremonies. MASKE of Rt. 1 Polkton, N.C. 28135, has en listed in the U.S. Naval Re serve in the CACHE program. By enlisting in this delayed enlistment program she was allowed to select a date within the following six months upon which to begin active duty in the Regular Navy. Time she '* spends awaiting Regular _Navy enlistment will count toward service for earlier pay increases, according to CHIEF PETTY OFFICER FERGUSON Navy Recruiter for this area. Kindergarten classes have been added at four new Char lotte-Mecklenburg elementary schools because of underenrollment in schools where kindergarten classes were placed at the beginning of the school year. Three kindergarten classes each have now been opened at Allenbrook, Ashley Park and Sedgefield Elementary and 'onetrtass Is now operrat Trvon- - Hills One additional class each was also added at Nations Ford, Lansdowne and States ville Road Elementary Schools to relieve serious I overcrowding in Kindergarten classes at those schools. In total. 13 kindergarten classes were transferred from schools where originally plac ed because classes were un derenrolled by 20 or more children. As is the CMS policy, all five-year-olds in the four new elementary areas will be elig ible to attend the public kind Eligibility for public kind ergarten is determined by lo cation of kindergartens in ele mentary school attendance areas. A five-year-old living in the attendance area of an elementary school with a kindergarten is eligible to at tend. Children living in ele mentary school attendance areas without kindergartens are not eligible for public kindergarten. All of the applicants passed the test and RTP. Inc. applicants had 13 of the highest scores according to Field Representative James Watt.
