Walter Larke Sorg ...National program director Sorg Is Trade Fair Speaker Walter Larke Sorg, assis tant director of the U S. Commerce Department's Office of Minority Business Enterprise (O.M.B.E.), in Washington, D. C., will be the principal speaker at a Thurs day-evening banquet for participants in the first Metro lina Trade Fair at the Char lotte Civic Center this week end. _ Sorg also director of O.M.B.E.'s National Pro grams Division, has been active in developing minority business assistance programs since 1964. At that time, he undertook a principal role in establishing the New Illinois . Committee, which sought pri vate-sector solutions to social and economic problems. A 1947 graduate of Rensse IflPT Pnlvfprhnip Tncfifnfn joined the federal government in Washington in 1969 after 12 years in the financial printing industry. In 1972 he received the Department of Commerce’s Silver Medal Award for major contribu tions in mobilizing the resour-' ces of the private sector to foster minority business deve lopment. The Trade Fair, sponsored by the Metrolina Regional Minority Purchasing Council, . is an opportunity for minority businessmen to display their products and describe their services for corporate buyers from throjjghpijt the Cjaro The Fair will be officially opened at a ribbon-cutting ceremony^at the Civic Center at 9 a.m. Thursday and will be open to the nuh^uj from 1 to 5 p.m. on Friday. Mayor John Belk of Char lotte has declared November 13 and 14 "Minority Business Appreciation Days” in Char lotte, encouraging city resi dents to increase their support of businesses owned by mem bers of minority groups. Uianges Made To Bus Route Starting Monday, Novem ber 10, the portion of bus route No. 3 - Plaza Road which now operates in the Hampshire Hills - Eastbrook Woods area was changed. It previously traveled from Independence Square in uptown Charlotte out The Plaza to the Hamp shire Hills - Eastbrook Woods area via a left turn on Quiet Cove Court, left on Ludwig Drive, right on Mullig Road, left on Somersworth Drive, left on Barrington Drive, right on Plaza Road, right on The Plaza and back to the uptown area. In order to serve a larger portion of the community, the route was changed to the following streets: left on Quiet Cove Court, right on Ludwig Drive, left on Pentlow Place, left on Eastbrook Road, left on Covecreek Drive, right on Barrington Drive, right on The Plaza to uptown Charlotte The Post Has Something • For Everybody!
