To Celebrate 7th Anniversary
me iviayiieia Memorial
Baptist Church, organized in
March, 1969, will celebrate
their 7th anniversary on Sun
day, March 21, at 6 p.m. Rev.
Leon C. Riddick and the choir
and congregation from Mt.
Carmel Baptist Church will be
special guests with Reb. Rid

The Mayfield Memorial
Church extended the call to
Rev. H.S. Diggs to become
pastor in June, 1969. The chu
rch at that time boasted of a
membership of 425 persons,
and assets totaling $135,000.
The church has not affiliated
with any county, district,
state, or national bodies. Ser
vices were held in the Oak
lawn Elementary school for 5
years until the energy crisis
caused the church to worship
on Sundays with litte or no
heat. A relocation committee
was appointed from the Dea
con and Trustee Boards, and
fortunately facilities were
found at 70Q Sugar Creek Road
West, where the former Sugar
Creek Baptist Church was
housed. Thus, on the second
Sunday evening in January,
1974 the Mayfield Memorial
Baptist Church held its first
service of worship at 700 Su
gar Creek Road West.
As fate would have it, the
summer of 1974 found the ow
