Senior Citizens Tour Florida Several Senior citizens made an excursion south re cently to the warm and invit ing vacation land of Florida with stops at Jacksonville, Cypress Gardens, Orlando, Disney World, Daytona Beach, and Marineland. The trip for the West Char lotte Recreational Center citi zens was reportedly very en joyable as the senior Citizens were treated to shopping in the stores and boutiques of Jacksonville, visiting Jack sonville's famous seafood res taurants. and being enchanted in Disney World's Magic King dom. A Jungle Cruise in Adven tureland, a Country Bear Jamboree in Frontierland, and Haunted House, the Hall of Presidents in Liberty Square, 20,000 Leagues under the seas in Fantasy land and America the Beautiful in Tom morrowland highlighted the trip for the Senior citizens. Cypress Gardens's water ski shows, and visits to the Lape Kennedy complex, and viewing exotic fish such as porposies, sharks, pilot whal es, and pelicans at marineland made for unimaginable fun. Mrs. Virginia Sloan, Mrs. Julia Doby (super visor) and James Foster (di rector of West Charlotte Cen ter). JCSU Receives S&H Foundation $3,000 Grant Johnson C. Smith University was recently awarded a $3,000 grant to bring to the Universi ty and the Charlotte Commu nity several outstanding lec turers. The award granted by the S and H Foundation, spon sored by the Sperry and Hut chinson Company was one of only five "Bicentennial A wards" made for 1976-77. Other Colleges and Universi ties receiving similar grants were: Madonna College, Li vonia, Michigan, Bard Col lege, Annandale-on-Hudson, New York; California State College, Robert Park, Califor nia; Lake Forest College, *,ake Forest, Illinois; Uni ver ity of Nebraska, Lincoln Ne braska. ; Dr. C. The Reunion was the culmi nation of plans begun in No vember of 1975 when class members met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John McKee of 1726 Irma Street and elected officers, including: Robert Simmons, President; Rosalee Meeks, 1st Vice President; Sylvester Lee Jr., 2nd Vice President, Roberta Cunning ham, Secretary; Frances Al exander, Corresponding Se Douglas Donald Named Chairman Of Leadership Group Douglas A. Donald, present ly serving as Southeastern Region Market Development Manager for Exxon, has been named Chairman orthe Lead ership Division for the 1976 United Way Campaign... Born in St. Louis, he attend ed school in New York and Charlotte, and reççivj&Î jù» civil engineering éfegree ana masters degree in industrial management from Georgia Tech. Lind say was guest speaker for the occasion which also included a Memorial Service for depart ed class mates lead by Percie Norman who read the necro logy. ! The Reunion activities w ere concluded with class mem bers attending the regular Morning Worship Service at Second Calvary Baptist Church, 114 Nelson Street, pastored by Rev. J.M. Kenne dy.
