Simpson star as two detectives caught up in an interracial love affair while working on a series of vicious crimes, in “A Killing Affair," which will have its world television premiere on "The CBS Wednesday Night Mo vies,” Wednesday, September 21, at 9 p.m. on WBTV, Chan nel 3. miao muiuguuici y pidyb VI ki Eaton, a competent homi cide detective who is known as a cop-hater because she refus es to date her fellow officers. But when Woodrow York, pla yed by O.J. Simpson, a mave rick policeman with several shooting incidents on his re cord, is temporarily assigned as her partner, that all chan ges as they strike immediate sparks. The couple's relationship draws the hostility of other detectives and strains York's shaky marriage to the break ing point. They feel even more pressure when they hunt for a killer and York rebels against Viki and the restrictions of police procedure. Guest stars in "A Killing Affair” include Rosaline Cash as Beverly York, who is un happy with her husband’s job; John Mahon as Detective Shoup; Priscilla Pointer as Judge Cudahy; and Allan Rich as Capt. Bullis. Dean Stock well makes a special appea rance as Switzer, a shrewd villain, and Dolph Sweet plays veteran detective Lt. BRAINSTORM _Hot new musical aggregation With Never- Quit Funky Music Brainstorm Coming On Strong ay ueDoran uaies Post Staff Writer It’s more of the Motor City’s high powered, never-quit fun ky music with strong soaring vocals coming through over the lush, rhythmic instrumen tal texture. That’s the sound of Brain storm in their first album, STORMIN, for Tabu Records manufactured and distributed by RCA Records. Brainstorm has been toge ther for almost two years now. They were formed by leader Chuck Overton out of the remains of The Fifth Revela tion, a band that had done two singles with producer Barrett Strong. They started with ty pical bar gigs in Detroit, beginning with six pieces and gradually working up to the present nine piece configura tion. In Detroit they soon • moved to the London Bridge Club where they packed the house for seven months. There they met manager Lee Norris, then managing Earl Klugh. and Norris brought them to the attention of Clarence a vant. President of Tabu Re cords. Charles Overton is leader and plays tenor alto and sop rano saxophone. At the age of 13, “Chuck’’ started playing saxophone. Originally from St. Louis, he has been on tour , with Wilson Pickett. He helped form Brainstorm and was a great help in putting the group’s concepts and ideas together to make them one of the top bands in the Detroit area. Chuck co-wrote their song, “This Must Be Heaven.” Belita Karen Woods (lead soloist) is nicknamed "B.B." She has had previous back ground vocal experience with such groups as The Four Tops and The Spinners She has also worked with Houston Person, Walter Jackson and Art Blak ey. In 1973 she worked with Barrett Strong. She became a member of Brainstorm in 1974. Belitha co-wrote the composition entitled “Lovin' Is Really My Game.” Jeryl Bright, trombone and background vocalist, was bred in Los Angeles. Jeryl started playing the trombone in ele mentary school at the age of ,11. He later moved to Shreve port, Louisiana. In 1974, he moved to Detoit and began playing with professional groups. In 1975 he toured with Ron Banks and The Drama tics. He became a member of Brainstorm in 1976. Larry H. Sims plays trum phet flugelhorn and is a back ground vocalist. Nicknamed “Leap,” Larry started play ing in the sixth grade under the direction of Moth Hall on the International Youth Sym phony, Windsor, Ontario. He learned music and trumphet theory through Marcus Bel grave and Harold McKinney In 1970, he played back-up on many sessions recorded by Invictus Records. In 1974 he helped with the formation of Brainstorm. Gerald Kent plays lead and rhythm guitar and sings back ground vocals. Nicknamed Continued On Page 7B Tyrone Davis Will Appear On Soul Train Show lyrone Davis and Dorothy Moore, both with hit tunes oil the nation’s charts, appear this weekend on Soul Train’s televised musical showcase. Davis sings "Git It Up, Turn It Loose," "This I Swear" and "All You Got" in the winning style that has earned him two gold records. "Can I Change My Mind" and "Turn Back the Hands of Time." A native of Saginaw. Mich., Davis moved to Chicago and liegan his musical career in the mtd-60's Dorothy Moore, w ho recent ly scored with the popular "Misty Blue." delivers her current success, "I Believe You," followed by “Let the Music Play " Although she now performs as a solo artist. .Miss Moore's first exposure in the 6ti's was with the female group. Sha Na Na are unbelieving until out steps Frank Gorshin Ix-n ny then tries to impress Frank with his impressions loiter on in the show, Frank Gorshin takes a walk down Sha Na Na's street and reminisces about his own youth and the movie stars that ifiriuenced his life. I here s more comedy on the show as Phil Roth, playing the TV executive, disguises him self by putting a bag over his head in hopes that no one will recognize him as the person responsible for getting Sha Na Na their own show and regular Kenneth Mars, as the right wing announcer (ieorge Pit nan, tries to convince the audience that he is not the f quare he once was.
