Jeanne Bohn To Clyde Brown Receives John M. Murphy Award
Take Look At
Teenage Girls
This year 10 percent of all
teenage American girls will
become pregnant.
WSOC-TV's Jeanne Bohn
takes an in-depth look at this
problem as she visits Char
lotte's Florence Crittenton
Home for unmarried mothers
and Hunter House, a facility
where young adolescent mo
thers are taught how to care
for their babies, on this week's
"Eyewitness Journal'' Sun
Day, November 13 at 12:30am.
Serving the Charlotte area
since 1903, the Florence Crit
tenton Home is one of forty
others across the nation.
Today it houses 65 residents,
the home's full capacity. The
demand for this service incre

birthrate among girls younger
than 14 has risen in addition to
the overall rate in general of
adolescent mothers. Jeanne
Bohn talks with Kenneth Sip
es, director of Florence Crit
tenton, and counselor Mary
Jane Falls about these factors
and the services the home
offers.
Ms. Bohn examines another
organization helpful to the
adolescent mother - Hunter
House. Marion Hunter, foun
der of the home and board
member of Crittenton; ex

complete their education and
make an attempt at a success
