rVMflk \ Dr.Bertha Maxwell ...College administrator Dr. Maxwell Conducts Workshops Dr. Bertha L. Maxwell, Vice President for Administrative Affairs and Planning at Johnson C. Smith University, recently conducted various Workshops for Cleveland, Ohio school administrators. She has been conducting these workshops since September of 1977. Along with these workshops, Dr. Maxwell addressed, in Cleveland, the national meeting of Phi Delta Kappa, a national education association. Her topic for this presentation was, “Dear Mr. Bakke—Education for Blacks Under Three Peculiar Institutions: Slavery, Segregation, Racism." Dr. Maxwell, who is a nationally known lecturer and consultant, is a graduate of Johnson C. Smith University, the University of North Carolina and Union Graduate School. West Charlotte Student Elected State President West Charlotte High School student Sharon Straite was • ^elected state president of the North Carolina Future Busi ness Leaders of America (FBLA) at the 24th annual state leadership conference in Winston-Salem this weekend. Sharon, a junior, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Straite, 4514 Thornwood Drive. FBLA is a club to develop leadership and help students improve skills in business courses such as typing, data processing. accounting and business communications, ex plains Gail Fox, FBLA advisor for West Charlotte High School.
