Prophet’s Column “He Is Near” By Jim Little "So likewise ye, when ye s:'jll see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. (Matt. 24:33) The disciples had asked the Lord about the end of the age. The Lord went on to answer their questions, gi ving very clear descriptins of world conditions just before His return. And when Christ said “know that it is near," He literally meant, “He is near." Yes, He is near or soon coming. Oh, I wish you could see that He is near my friends. For, “The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with vio lence. And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth." (Gen. 6:11-12) In Noah's day that is what God said about the earth. Now listen to what my Lord had to say when He was coming down to the end of His ministry here; "And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of Man." (Lk. 17:26) Christ said that as the earth was corrupt and filled with violence in Noah’s day, so shall it be when ’ e returned. Yes, the ea^ Vi is corrupt and filled •vith violence from one corner of the earth to the other. Where do you stand, my friend? I’m looking for the imminent return of my Lord. Are you? Unless the Lord has or dained for me to be taken out through a natural death soon, I believe I’ll be living when Christ comes. I want to know what it means to cross over without passing through death. It’s the greatest thing in the world to know Christ, but when my Lord comes for me to glorify me, that’ll eclipse my salvation because then I shall see face to face the One who died for me. Jim Little All you modernists, in fidels, agnostics, and evo lutionists can scoff at the coming of my Lord all you please, but you cannot stop Him from coming. Just as certain as He rose from the dead, He is coming! When Christ comes, there'll be no laughter then; for you will be left behind to endure the wrath of God poured out on a Christless humanity that hates God. You hate God. You’ve never seen that but you shall if you are ever to be saved. Yes, HE IS NEAR. So near, He has placed one foot inside the door as it were. Over the next few short years, you are going to see more prophecy ful filled than has been ful filled during this entire century. I praise the Lord for awakening me to my lost condition, showing me what a depraved and Hell deserving sinner I was through the Word, and then the blessed Holy Spirit re vealing Christ to my heart through the Word. If Christ hasn't been revealed to your heart through the Word, then you are not saved. You can believe the Word from cover to cover »nd yet go to Hell; you can, go to Hell with the Bible in your hand. That startles religious folks on a profes sion when I say that. If you ever are awakened to your lost condition by the Holy Spirit you’ll see and know what I’m talking about. First, the Holy Spirit re veals you to your heart from the Word of God, then he Reveals Christ to your heart from the Word of God. Every soul born of the Spirit of God knows what I’m laying down is true. You don’t know if my friend because you have never been born of the Spirit of God. Yes, the sand in the hour glass is almost run out. The coming of the Lord is very near. Time is rapidly flee ing into eternity. The last thirty years went by almost like a few weeks. Just this !>ast week I had oppor tunity to walk across the >ld school grounds where I started school thirty years igo this summer. It was in 1950 that I started the first jrade there at Tillman Sta ion School, an old wooden our room school house « with pot-bellie$l stoves. As I walked across the old school, place, many me mories came back to me very clearly; some early convictions came back to me. I spent the first four years there, and one year when we returned to school, there in the class room, all the other students were going about their school chores as usual. But there I sat as just a little lad feeling deep down with in that something was wrong. I didn't know what it was but I knew some thing was wrong with me. There was an uneasiness in my heart that J couldn’t understand. Wh*en 1 was about eight years old they were having the usual Au gust meeting at Deep Creek Baptist Church, our home church. It was de cided that I should go and see if I could get my religion. Well, I went to the meeting. The preacher got a bunch of us young folks down on our knees and they sang and prayed over us. When we got up the pastor of the church, Brother Ju lius Little asked if anyone had anything to say. I was the first one to rise and make a profession; “I be lieve I can trust the Lord ‘til I die.” I made that professional with all the earnestness of my heart. For surely I thought I would be saved. Pastor Little shouted Amen al most before my statement ended. When I returned to Tillman Station School my teacher, Mrs. Gertrude Dargan Timmons said to me at recess time; “James, what happened to you down yonder the other day? They tell me you got religion.” I smiled and dropped my head without answering her and walked off. _ Be Wise - Advertise in the Charlotte Post (NOTICE Of PUBLIC HEARING 1 D17* . 1 YT» i_ . . . _ _ K - •* * w uu vdimiuiu* i ransii oysiern; and II.
