Periodically when I hear a piece 6f music that so impresses me that I feel like passing it on through my most viable means of communication, here, it will appear. Without a doubt let me tell you that Leon Huffs “Here To Create Music” is H-O-T!! Most of you are probably familiar with Leon Huff as a producer and songwriter. Well, let me tell you that he’s that and more. Side One of this fantastic album begins with a jazz-rock funk fusion cut titled “Your Body Won’t Move, If You Can’t Feel The Groove” with lyrics sung by Teddy Pendergrass, Eddie LeVert of the O’Jays, and The Jones’ Girls. Then, the next selection, “I Ain’t Jivin’, I’m Jammin’,” overtly dis plays the music genius of Huff as he bangs expertly the +4!! out of those piano keys. But then, it is only equalled by “No Greater Love” and the versatility of violin ist Jack Simmons. And if Side One does nothing for those clapping hands and stomping feet we’re all supposed to have, then Side Two with such cuts as “Low Down, Hard Time Blues,” “Tasty,” and “This One's For Us," have got all the proper stuff to set you in the appropriate mood for whatever! - My- only complaint against Side Two is that the selections are too short. Hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I did writing it...‘cause when we really get down to it, it’s all about sharin’. Support Our Advertiser* “60 Minutes” To Air < ^ 2*-^ ' . - - ' / Highland Hospital Story CBS’ “60 Minutes^ has informed the North Carolina Insurance Com missioner’s Office that they plan to run the Highla'nd Hospital story on Sunday, January 25. “60 Minutes”, the widely ac claimed national television news program, has been working on the story since last summer. CBS television crews traveled to North Carolina on several occasions to shoot footage for the story. Their trips included Asheville, where Highland Hospital is located; Ra leigh to interview Insurance Com missioner John Ingram and Dur ham, North Carolina. Insurance Commissioner John Ingram helped to generate some of that national concern about the controversial sate. * VHarry Reasoner, and. one of those crews spent some three hours in Ingram’s office late last June examining Ingram’s role in a fact-finding hearing he (Ingram) held in Asheville on the proposed sale of the non-profit hospital, at the request of western North Caro-J lifia citizens and concerned doc tors. Reasoner was also invested in the findings of- those hearings. The sale of Highland to Psychia tric Institutes of America by Duke University raised senous ques tions about health insurance rates and the inflationary effects on health costs caused by such takeovers. V Highland Hospital is the largest private mental hospital in the area. The controversy began when Duke University decided to setf the' 134-bed hospitalHp PIA. The Sale ‘ has been contested by staff psy chiatrists who lost their jobs at the • “hospital in July, as well as support ers of the two doctors, Concerned citizens in western North Carolina and Ingram. Opposition to the sale included copcern over increased daily room -rates that will be charged by PIA, availability, of services to the citizens of western North Carolina, what increased costs would do to health insurance costs, and evidence that showed PIA had not kept its promises in other areas of the country in which it had purchased similar hospitals. Records’ show that in each in stance where PIA has bought hospitals all over the country it has increased rates in some instances by as much as 120 percent. Pa tients complained of bills of as' much as $93,000 for a little more than seven months treatment in a .Washington, D.C. hospital pur chased by PIA. Witnesses at Ingram’s Asheville fact-finding session say they fear similar high rates in North Auditiong Set “The Beauty and the Lonely Beast,’’ directed by Grace Parco, 1 will be holding auditions January 26-27 from 7-9 p.m. at the Child ren’s Theatre, 1017 E Morehead Street Children 5th grade and up are welcome to audition Prepared audition pieces are not necessary.
