Lhurch ISeu's Briefs Revival Services To Highlight Ben Salem’s Anniversary Celebration By Teresa Burns Post Staff Writer For 112 years Ben Salem United Presbyterian Church has served the Charlotte community Along with this year's anni versary celebration the church has scheduled a revival which begins Thursday. September 10, and lasts until Sunday, Sep tember 13. Services will be held Thursday and Friday nights at 7:30 p m. at the church, 2414 N. Sharon Amity Road. Thursday, Evangelist Rev Wilch H. GaWwetrSFT pastor of Faith Memorial Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker His choir and congregation will ac —company-hiro_ Friday, September 11, Evangelist Rev. Jeremiah Robinson of First Mayfield Memorial Baptist Church, will deliver the message. His congregation and choir will also accompany their pastor to this service. Prayer services will be conducted before these nightly services. On Sunday, September 13, 3 p.m., the 112th anni versary Observance Serv ice with guest speaker Rev. George C. Goodman, pastor of C.N. Jenkins Me morial United Presbyte rian Church, will be con ducted. The Gospel Choir and congregation of C.N. Jenkins will also partici pate. The public is cordially invited to attend and share in these uplifting fellow ships. Rev. Ray A. Booton is host minister. FIRST UNITED PRESBYTERIAN The Women’s Organiz ation of First United Pres byterian Church has planned a two-evening forum entitled “Black Fe male Church Involvement in the 80s," Thursday, Sep tember 10, and Fridge September 11, from 6:30 - 9:15 p.m. at First United Presbyterian Church, corner of Seventh and Col lege Streets. Emphasis will be given -ft.; “floli gious Challenges for Black Females in the 80s,” “Con tinued Political Involve ment in the 80’s for Black Females,” ‘‘Economics and the Black Woman - Is There Such A Thing in the 80s?,” etc. Members of the panels are Nannie Nelson, Char lotte Hampton, Cleo Yongue, Bertha Maxwell, Sarah Stevenson, Willie Smith, Lender Stewart, Julia Prince, Jean Webber, Marnite Shuford, Mabel McLean, Carol Ricks, San dra Martin, Donna Patter son, Celesta McCollough and Idelia Procter. These forums will cul minate in the Observance of Woman’s Day Sunday, September 13. The speaker for this event will be Julia Prince.
