— _ ENTERTAINMENT T THE CHARLOTTE POST — WBTV To Air “The Magic Of David Copperfield” David Copperfield attempts his most amazing feat to date- making a seven-ton jet disappear into thin air, in "The Magic of David Cop perfield,'' an entertainment special which guides viewers through an astonishing world of humor, dance and magic, to be broadcast Monday, October 26, at 10 p.m. on WBTV, Channel 3. Academy Award winner Jason Kobards hosts the hour, with guest stars Susan Anton, who has starred in her own music-variety series and television specials, and Au drey Landers, of the Network series "Dallas," and special guest star Catherine Bach, of the Net work's "The Dukes of Hazzard" series. The feat, as with all other magic acts o the special, is performed without the aid of camera trickery of any kind. In another segment, Copperfield casts a new light on an old trick when he attempts to cut Catherine Back into six pieces with a laser beam. Among other acts, Copperfield employs his patented blend of elegance, romance and humor to restore youth to an aging couple, levitate a young boy, and turn an antique doll into an enchanting and very real, ballerina. Sorigs range from a rework ing of the durable Beatles classic, "We Can Work It Out," to the Maden-Khan original, “I Know You, I l,ove You." 1 * X » * * • i a ^ • i • . • Julius Oiambers To Discuss Voting Rights Act Washington attorney Loni Greinier and Charlotte attorney Julius Chambers will take part in a forum on the 1965 Voting Rights Act at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 28, at the Central YMCA building, 400 E. Morehead St. Ms. Greinier, associate counsel with the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, will discuss the prospects for the Voting Rights Act in the U.S. Senate. The act, being reconsidered this year by the Congress, recently passed the U.S. House over whelmingly (there were 24 dissenting votes). However, U.S. Sen. Strom Thurmond (R-S.C.), chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, is known to oppose the renewal of the act’s key sections. Mr. Chambers, a nationally known attorney and civil rights advocate, will discuss the background of the act, the need for its renewal and what the act has accomplished since 1965. This forum is being presented by the Charlotte Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union. There is no charge for attendin'' the forum. Legend Of Sleepy Hollow Airs Saturday Disney presents a happy hour of Halloween chills and thrills high lighted by the classic animated tale of Washington Irving's "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.'' on "Walt Disney. " Saturday. October 24. at B p.m. on WBTV, Channel Bing Crosby is heard on the narration and songs for the classic featurette that chronicles the ad ventures of Ichabod Crane, a frightened schoolmaster- who meets up with th^ infamous " headless horseman."
