Prophet * Column “The Salvation Of Saul” f By J. M. Little I Special To The Poet In the ninth chapter of Acts we have the story of the salvation of Saul of Tarsus, later known as the Apostle Paul. Let me say in the beginning that every 4>ul who ever gets saved is saved Just like Saul was saved, or Just like I was saved. God has only one «ayof Salvation, and only one Salvation-and that is (he Lord Jesus Christ. And. he is your salvation If you are saved. . The greatest thing in all this universe is just to know Christ as your Lord and your Saviour. So the eternal question I ask each of you is;. ‘.‘Do you know Christ?" Has He beenve vealed to your heart? We are going to see Just bow the Lord saves every sinner who ever gets saved in this story of the salva tion of the viilian, Saul of Tarsus. What does the name "Saul” mean? It means “destroyer.” Saul of Tarsus was a great reli gious man, and a lawyer, trained under Gamaliel. "And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the dis dpiw of the Lord, went unto the high priest, And desired of him letters to aMUS way, whether they or women, be them bound unto Jerusalem. And as be journeyed, be came near Damascus; and suddenly there shined round about hbn« light from heaven: ' And ha feD to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why per secuted thou Me? And he said. Who art thou, Lard? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou perseco tests; it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt Thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do,” (Ac*ftl4>. Here we see a great religious man who was persecuting the Christians, breathing out threatening! and slaughter against them. And we are told in the seventh and eighth chapters of Acts that Saul was 'here when Stephen tfr- V f _ ax® t>x®B<a® awiiaxM He Can Give You , The Best Deal On A New Or Used Car. aa™J% Proposals forms, specification and plana may be obtained at the Offlc* of the Chief Engineer. We see this same man going to the high priest for permission to bind every man and woman who knew the Lord. Every unsaved heart has a high priest to report to. Here is a man with a heart of hatred for Christians. Why did he hate Chris tians? Because every man in Ms natural state hates God. Since 1972 when God saved me, I have been setting forth the truth that every man out of Christ hates God. Pew know that truth in reality. At this time a great persecution broke out against the Christians who were known as the children of “this way,” or “that way.” Meaning those who knew Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Here We see a man riding down the Damascus road with all the hatred and vengeance in his heart to persecute all the Christians he could lays hands on. He set out that morning to continue what he had been doing for years. Now, how can that man be changed, or stopped? .Modern day theology *ould have taken this approach: "Just get him to ‘accept Jesus’ as his Saviour and then lead him away from his Bins later on.” That’s what you hear all across the religious World. The Devil has made popular that saying over the last 20 years. Here is a man hating God and all Christians, and modern day theology says just “accept Jesus.” What a ' tragedy. You can accept Jesus as your Saviour just as easily as you can make a new heaven and a new earth. I would not want a Jesus I could accept any time I wanted to. But I hear that everywhere I go. If you could accept the Lord Jesus anytime you wanted to, then you would be sovereign instead of Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ does not stand before any sinner for that sinner to accept Him. On the contrary, yon .stand before Christ for Him to accept you or damn you in Hell. I wish that our preachers across t America and the world knew that great truth, but they don’t. All they know is a little “easy believing ism” that’s damning mul titudes to Hell. I lived there and taught easy believingism for years. I don’t think any-? one supported that damn able doctrine any mare - than f aid. But here is a man With his party riding in the direction of Damas cus to lay hold of every Christian and bring them bound to Jerusalem. The “Prophet's Column Is a paid advertisement. Discrimination Is Alive And Works I Dear Editor, I am addressing this letter to your paper for the purpose that you and your readers realize that dis crimination is alive and works In the most sophis ticated ways and establish ments. I worked as a doorman for SVi years at one of the most expeaslve and elaborated stores for women In the South. This store from what I learned was the last In Charlotte to admit black customers and all of their black workers were domestic. They would serve tea and coffee and help the white customers with changing their clothes. It was only dining the last decade that Montaldo’s began to give Mack employees better jobs, but the black ero jloyees had to retain the ' water-melon smile and be appreciative to the white employees and employer for this position. When I accepted this Job as doorman it was with the understanding that "when an opening in the shoe department and office became available I would be more than considered, never knowing that Mon taldo’s has never had a black male or female in their shoe department where most of the money is made. And a former em ployee told me that Montaldo’s would never let a black male touch the feet of a white customer. After complaining many times about Job promotion and pay in creases I became a black employee that was too black and did not know Ms place. They employed a white male as truck driver and paid him more money than me, gave him the position to oversee the employees when the operations manager was off, closing and opening the store and the white man did not even finish high school and would wear cowboy boots and jeans. When he left the store, they employed a black male who was doing janitorial duties and gave him the same responsibni ty. When I com plained they said that this black male smiled more than I Bd and be was loyal to manage ment, which mean* Unde Totnish. In management’s eyes 1 was too black and had too much pride for them, although I performed my job with dignity and 90 percent of the customers approved of me. But the present manager, Ms. Creed, and vice president of the store with their un hidden bias and racial prejudice, began to form ways to get rid of me legally. When a black friend of mine sent. flowers to a white female employee at Montaldo’s and got her dismissed, they said I had to go on learning the Mack male was a a pal of mine. There was another incident at the store where Jack Reid and Creed said that a Mack male had entered the store > and went to Creed’s office and removed $100 out of her pocketbook and I did not see the black male leave. When they asked me if I had seen a black male leave the store, I replied, “How was I to know that he had stole anything?” They said when ever I see a black person enter the store wearing Jeans t should be alert. I told then I was not employed to b£ security and I had no God given right to stop a black male because he is black and wears Jeans. From their reaction when I told them this, I knew that I was on my way out. When Carley and Montaldo’s made the deal to close the parking lot in the back of the store then Montaldo’s said they would not be providing valet parking anymore so they would dot need my' services. But that- is a • < monumental Jje; they still have valet parking. They even advertised about it on television. They leased a parking lot on N. Tryon St. near the car wash. The customers will park their cars there and Montaldo’s valet man will drive them to the store in a van Just bought for this purpose. They did not offer me the Job, they did not even offer me another Job in the store, I worked as a doorman] longer than any doorman, was so good that WBTV die an autobiography of me; many newspaper stories were written on me as doorman and me as a person and man with pride and dignity. Sincerely; , William Samuel Dunlap Is Homosexuality Legitimate Lifestyle? Dear Editor, Is homosexuality a le gitimate lifestyle that merits special rights , and treament? Does such a life style endanger the partici pants’ health and well being as well as the health and well-being of the general public? How should we treat those caught in this web of con duct, being fair to both them and society as a whole? What is the Christian (ethical) response? We could have excused answering those questions five years ago but we can not any longer. The most liberal of reports confirm that semen and blood are the major means of spread ing the dreaded disease of AIDS. The same report assures us that homo sexuality is the source. If society was not at risk we would still have a responsibility to the homosexual. A com passionate society hurts with those who hurt. But it does not just hurt, it looks for solutions and answers. When those solutions and answers are found, they become ideas for action even if they are repudiated by those with the problem. Homosexuals are in festing one another with AIDS at a Hfe-threatening pace. It appears that their drive for. sexual satisfac 4SS. outweighs their common sense protection of themselves or of one another. San Francisco, California, has five new cases of AIDS each day while two persons per day die from the same. The threat of AIDS is in itself awesome yet the psychological bondage ef homosexuality is worse. Personal experiences aa“a minister and pastor leaves me with deep compassion for these hurting indivi duals. Those I have dealth with despise them selves for what they are doing. They want out but Teel completely locked in and overwhelmed. , t r There is hope. A young man that I will call Mike called Just a few days ago to thank me. He had called previously to give me a piece of his mind. I treated ' mm kindly and prayer fully. In fact as he hung up, I said, “I will be praying for you.” IQs answer was, "I don’t want you praying for me.” 1 had replied, “I’m going to pray anyway.” Sincerely, Joseph R.
