The Women’s Recreation Asso
ciation of Chowan College, newly
organized this year under the
direction of Mrs. Janet Collins,
elected officers at its first meet
ing of the school year. The offi
cers are Janet Leonard, presi
dent; Ann Jenkins, vice-presi
dent; Carol Holt, secretary and
treasurer; Sandra Hare, corres
ponding secretary; Martha Hol
land, intramural chairman; and
Myrtle Hofler, special events
chairman.
Other members include Maggie
Griffin and Sue Bunch of Dorm

The purposes of this organi
zation, as stated in the Con
stitution of the W.R.A., are to
“stimulate interest and to pro
vide for participation in a var
ied program of athletic and re
creational activities to promote
good sportsmanship, fellowship,
and cooperative living among the
women of this college, and to
maintain high standards of lead
ership.”
