Shoe Co., of New York, died at Concord. N. C. last night in the omnibus between toe southern station and St. Cloud Hotel. Heart disease was the cause of his death. Up to a years or so ago Mr Smith represented the shoe house of St. John Kirkhara & Co., of flew York. He was very popu lar and favorably known throughout the State, and his many friends will note Dis death with a keen feeling ot regret and sorrow. ' Death of J. E. Matthews. Died, Tuesday morninsr in Pat terson township, Mr. J. E. Mat thews, aged about 60 years. For four or nve years past he had been an in valid, suffering from heart trouble. During this time he had been inca pacitated for any physical work, and naa oeen provided tor, and was ouriea oy toe brotherhood of St Andrew.
