Chapkl Hill, Mirch 22 (Cor respondence of the Sun ) The next game of baseball to be played here u the game between tbe University and Lafayette, which will be played Monday afternoon. Holt, who is captain and first baseman on the Uni versity nine; was not able 'to take part in tbe practice game yesterday, but is hoped to be in good condition by Monday. The playing in the game with Oak Ridge Thursday showed that the University team is made up of good material. Mon day's game will doubtless be a good one. Taere will also be a game with Lafayette on Tuesday. After Dr. Eoyster's leelure in the chapel Thursday night, there was a mass meeting of students and fac ulty complimentary lo the Univer sity's representatives in the Johns HopkinB debate, Messrs. Stern abd Williams. Dr. Baskerville presided. Speeches were made by the debaters, and several others. The chapel was crowded to its greatest capacity, and everything went to show the most hearty appreciation of the vic tory won in this debate with Hop kins. Dr. Hubert A Rovster, dean of the University College of Medicine, which was recently established in Rileigh, spent tbe day here Thurs day. He lectured to the students in medicine several times during the morning, and his lecture on Muscle'' that evening was beard by a large crowd, all of whom seemed delighted with it. The lecture con sisted in the treatment of a techni cal subject in such a way as to make it interesting to even the most unscientific. L. Delegates Elected. The John Manning Camp of Con federate Veterans met at the court house today at noon. Only a small number of the members were pres ent. About, the only thing of im portance was the election of dele gates. It was decided that all veter ans who may go to the , reunion at Dallas, Texas, shall consider them selves as delegates. . , Trinity Church. Rev. Dr. Frank H. Wood will preach at Trinity Methodist church Sunday morning at 11 o'clock. At the night servico tbe pulpit will be occupied by the pastor, Rev. W. C. Norman. Of Ml APPEAL TO BE TAKEN TO THE SUPREME COURT. j The Jury Dsci Jed This Morning That the Plaintiff Was En titled to Damages The suit of Mrs B. Davis against C. Sammerfitlii, which bad been on ia the Superior Court for several days this week, was given to the jury tbis morning between 10 and 11 o'clock. -.After the jury had been out some thing over an hour and a half, they brought in a verdict for $325 in favor of the plaintiff. Attorneys for the defendant gave notice of an appeal to the Supreme court. They will fight the case to the bitter end. The teircnnistances of why tbe suit jras brought was told of in these columns three or four days ago. The attorneys who represent the parties interested in the suit closely contested almost every phase of the trial. Court baa adjourned forw.this week's term. ELKS BURLESQUE CIRCUS. Bramham consented to take charge of the concert, which insures the ex cellence of this part of the enter tainment. He savs it ia not a Ques tion with him, as it is with so many of the other so-called "Big Cir cuses," of how cheaply be can pro- rduce tbe concert, but how many of tue nigh class vaud aville stars he can secure, can produce their acts in the time alloted for this part of the entertainment. A big sale of advance tickets is being made by the Elks. Better get yours at once, as these, tickets, and these tickets only will be accepted in exchange for the regular Opera House ticket the first 3 hours the chart is opened, commencing at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning at Matthews' Drug Store. Important Political Year, This is going to be a very inter esting and important political year, and the dun will keep its readers thoroughly posted in regard to the campaign. Already the "political pot" is beginning to simmer, and later on will be boiling at a rapid rate. , Those wishing to keep thor oughly posted in regard to political matters, should subscribe as soon as possible. Interred at Keysville. Tbe remains of the little daugh ter of Capt. .and Mrs. J. A. Gal braith, who passed away on Friday, weretsarned to Keysville, V a., to day and interred this afternoon in the family burying ground. Byrum, who was carried to .the Watts Hospital Fri day morning, and was operated on that afternoon for appendicitis, passed away this morning about 11 o'clock. ' , Deceased was a brother-in-law of C. E. Jourdan, the Mam street gro cer, and was highly esteemed by all who knew him. Mr. Byrum was 26 years of age. All of his friends here and else where will regret to hear of his death. The funeral services will be con ducted from tbe residence on Mu Mannen street, Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Interment in the city cemetery. The bereaved ones have the sin cere sympathy of all in their sorrow. DR. MOORE DECLINES. Alumni Address to be Delivered by Dr. Anderson. It has been annonnced that Dr. E. G. Moore, of Elm City, would deliver tbe Alumni Address at the Trinity College Commencement this year. He . was elected, with Dr Albert Anderson, of Wilson, as alternate. Dr. Moore finds that he cannot accept the invitation, and Dr. Anderson will deliver the address. Dr. Anderson is f one of the most prominent members of the medical profession in tbe State, aftd the Association is very fortunate in securing hia services. It is expected that a large number of the alumni will be present at tbe meeting of the Association, to be neld on luesday afternoon, June 3d. ' Matters Pertaining to Durham.
