The Pirate By: Tlie Three Buccaneers (Kat, Jan and Peg.) "At last basketball is over, and we can really get some studying ‘done," was the remark made by one of the teachers last week. You should have seen the look when the students mentioned soft ball and basketball. It seemed as though all her hopes were ruined. The basketball teams have de cided not to enter the Star-News tournament. The boys/have start ed to practice baseball and the girls are hoping to have a soft ball team. Since Mr. Carmieheal does not have to coach the girls Mr. Reese has taken over. Wednesday the Block ‘S' club got their pins. They are really pretty, too. The pins are gold with a tiny purple “S” in the mid dle of them. While we arc on the subject of the Block “S” club we may as well tell you that the club is giving the baseball team the money to buy two new complete baseball uniforms. The juniors also elected their waitresses for the banquet last Wednesday. The following girls form the sophomore class were chosen: Carolyn Smith, Ruby Neil Hewett, Kay Hewett, June Cai son, Rose Marie Gray, Eva Mae Hewett, Mickey Beck, Janice Hol den, Doll Thomas, Geraldine Browning, Nell Carter, and Elnita Holden. The banquet is to be sometime in April. Ruth Galloway, a senior, was given a birthday party by her parents Friday night. Those at tending were Ruth Galloway, Amelia Kirby, Sylvia Sermons, Floyd Kirby, Jr., Jack Robinson, Elmer Nance, Billy Gray, Albert Parker, Toan Parker, Richmond Galloway, V. E. Galloway, Kath leen Clemmons, Merle Lennon and Mr. and Mrs. V. Galloway. Ruth received many beautiful gifts. The baseball players have re ceived 11 of the their new uni forms. Seen Around: Dr. M. H.
