Waccamaw’s Eagles had their old standbys, Vernon Hughes and Lyle King as pace-setters. Hughes scored 20 points; King tallied 19. I Two Brunswick Men Take Special Course Rev. Mark Owens, pastor of Southport Baptist church, and Rev. Robert W. Rollins, pastor of the Baptist church of Supply, are enrolled in a six-weeks’ course in pastoral care of the sick at North Carolina Baptist hospital at Win ston-Salem. The course, designed especially for working pastors, is given sev eral times each year ■ by the hos pital’s School of Pastoral Care. The present class will complete its work on March 23. Classes are so arranged that pastors are able to return to their pulpits over the week ends. Registration is limited to 20. Southport Man Is Being Held In Jail A r m o n • Caison, 38-year-old white man who lives near South port, was arrested by Sheriff Ed Leonard and Deputy Drew Long Saturday morning and charged with assault upon a female with intent to commit rape. Sheriff Leonard said Caison, who is married and the father of several children, was arrested on the complaint of a young Bruns wick County woman who charged that she was forcibly set upon by the defendant on the night of Washington’s Birthday and that | a struggle ensued which caused the plaintiff physical and mental anguish. The defendant is being held in j the Brunswick County jail in lieu of $1,500 bond. C & D Is Heading The Heart Fund Drive On State Level This Year Hargrove Bowles, Jr., Director of the State Department of Con servation and Development, is State Chairman of the 1962 Heart Fund, according to Mrs. W. M. Sermons, Fund Raising Chairman of the Brunswick Heart Council. The appointment was announced I recently by Dr. C. Glenn Sawyer, president of the North Carolina Heart Association, to which the local Heart Council is affiliated.
