John Palmer removed his family to E. City, Monday; Mr, Palmer having accepting a po sition in that city. J. C. Kilgo, of Durham, will preach at the Broad street M. Since the organization of the Edeuton cornet band the boys have been practicing manfully every night, to the great detrN ment of Newbern's frog industry on the neigboring creek-catch ing frogs by the alluring strains of "Mr. Johnson turn me loose" is not proving a very successful inovation. We received a communicas tion from Clum postoffice this week, which, for want of a sig nature, is consigned to the waste basket. We are pleased at all times to receive notes of interest to the general reader, but we must insist upon a sig nature. If your article is such that- you cannot own it, save your stamps. Camden County Democratic Convention. The Democrats of Camden County assembled in convene tion at Camden Court House, June Cth 189S, the same being called to order by E. M. DePord, ch'm Co, Ex. committee. T. B. Boushall was elected temporary chairman; C. B. Garrett, Secre tary. The chair announced the object of the convention was to appoint delegates to the Senato rial and Congressional conven tious of the first District. A committee composed of the delegates sent by the different townships was appointed to sug gest the delegates to represnet this county in the Senatorial and Congressional conventions of the First District. Miss Mary Davis, who has been clerking for Griffin ec Smith, during the busy part of spring, returned home in Win fall, last week. Rev. Chas. R. Taylor closes his school at Wanchese this week, and will have the Com mencement exercises on Thurs. day and Friday nights of this week. Lillian, the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Hooper, died last Thursday night after several weeks sickness; and was buried Friday afternoon at the Cemetery Rev. J. J. Barker conducted the funeral service. The schooner Luptou, of E. The charade at Moyock last week proved to be a grand suc cess, the pieces were acted splen didly for an amateui troupe. The music was furnished by Messrs. Wilkins, Grey, Poyner Grey; they composed one of the best local quarteetes that can be found anywhere. I was seriously afflicted with a cough for several years, and last fall had a more severe cough than ever before.
