When flames consume your property —and further damage is caused by the water used to quell the fire—it’s too late to take out insurance to pay for your loss! Guard against fire by every preventative means you know: and protect yourself against fire loss with our low premium insurance. Dan L. English Insurance and Real Estate Tinsley Building —:— Brevard, N. C. r FIRE Can Destroy a Lifetime’s Savings. INSURE Against Such Losses. The home you’ve worked so hard to make your own! The furnishings you just bought! All the family’s clothes—fire makes the investments of a life time go up in smoke! Only in surance can repay your losses: only insurance can protect you —it doesn’t pay to delay get ting coverage! BREVARD Insurance Agency O. H. Orr ~ F. E. Shuford BREVARD, N. C. National Defense is an important subject now and all of us are trying to help it in every way we can. It is a fireman’s business to put out fires that have started, but it is up to us to see that fewer fires start. With a little thought and eare many fires can be prevented and that is our job. We can protect this country better and more efficiently if we watch our selves than by watching others. Remember to pinch out all lighted matches or cigarettes before throwing them away and never throw these lighted objects from a moving car. Boy Scouts are sending patrols through streets and alleys looking fur rubbish dumps that are dangerous to the community and we urge all home owners and renters, too, to inspect their homes and apartments for fire hazards. Inspect your wiring, see to it that all loose paper and rags are properly burned or stored away in fire-proof containers. Keep your coal bins clean and keep all ashes in the ash pit. If we all work together we can accomplish much toward preventing fires. Carelessness is our biggest enemy, but that can be over come if we will only remember. LOCAL FIRE DEPT. TO INSPECT HOMES AND BUSINESS HOUSES During Fire Prevention week, October 5-11, we will inspect as many homes and business houses in Brevard as we pos sibly can. Your cooperation is urgently requested, and your assistance in eliminating fire hazards in closets, basements, attics, etc., will be greatly appreciated. JOHN W. SMITH, Fire Chief. r 'i They can fight but they can’t pay LOSSES The bravery of our firemen is to be lauded. But their lives are precious, too—and every precaution taken for fire prevention may save a fireman’s life as well as your own! When your home is ravaged by fire you can depend‘on the fire department to put it out—-and you can depend on us to pay you for the loss if you are covered by our fire insurance. THE WALKER INSURANCE AGENCY Mrs. Mary Jane McCrary “Always At Your Service Brevard, N. C. —:—i Phone 67 IT CAN HAPPEN HERE . . . BUT your property need not be a total loss, if your insurance is adequate. Think of the fact that there is a fire in 500 homes daily—that it’s always the result of an “accidental” cleaning fluid explosion, curtain catching fire from the stove, or cigarette. You can’t afford to be with out our low rate fire insurance! JEROME & McMINN, Agents General Insurance BREVARD, N. C. And Furniture Against Fire, Water, Smoke You are probably carrying insurance now. But are you sure it’s adequate? Does it protect you com pletely? WILSON’S REAL ESTATE and INSURANCE Mr*. W. A. Wilson, Agent BREVARD, N. C. J OFTEN CAUSED BY FAULTY WIRING If your house is old or amateurishly wir ed, watch out! Plenty of fires are caused by faulty wiring . . . fires that could easi ly have been prevent ed with a little atten tion and expense! It pays to keep every thing electrical in top working order. D.
