JUST FOOTBALL —By— John Anderson * j Our hats are off this week to Tom Mitchell, employee of the Brevard Lum ber company for winning the two theatre tickets last week. Mitchell did some mighty nice predicting. In second place, and receiving one ticket, was Jimmie Newbury, student at Brevard high school. Again this week we are giving three theatre tickets. They are presented with the compliments of the owners of the local theatres, and all you have to do is to predict the winners and give only the score of the Brevard-Sylva game to be played at Sylva Friday night. Be sure to send in your entry by noon Friday. Getting the breaks and thanks to the hard driving of Harry Ash worth, Brevard Hi did a swell job of coming from behind to defeat Swannanoa last Friday afternoon, and the boys are all set to journey to Sylva tomorrow afternoon. After receiving some needed polish from Coach Cox all this week, the local lads are pretty confident of a win. Explanations should be forthcoming since our ole Alma Mater, North Caro lina, took a licking, and I mean a real licking, at the hands of the powerful South Carolina team laet Saturday in Kenan Stadium at Chapel Hill. Best guess: The Tar Heels, their victory over Lenoir Rhyne revealing them as a great team, didn’t take Ray Wolfs warnings seriously; they underrated S. C. and that’s all there is to it. The game of the loeek is un doubtedly the Duke-Tennessee tilt at Durham Saturday. And this time Wallace Wade says he’ll get his revenge. After so soundly trouncing Wake Forest, we’re inclined to agree with him. But you’d better watch Quarterback Johnny Butler of the Vols. They say he’s the fast est thing they’ve ever had at Tennessee. It’s homecoming at Duke and at least 40,000 fans will be there. Incidentally, if you’re in terested in going, there’s to be a special pullman running from Ashe ville. We were very much delighted with the some fifty entries we had last week, and since you have to guess only one score this week, we are hoping for as Your Eyes Deserve The Best 1941 Dr. C.
