April 13. Only one other golfer. Bill Robinson, from Cashiers, and now on the PGA tour, . has equaled this record. Robert is a sophomore at Brevard College and is on the Rolf team. He scored the course-tying record playing in a foursome with Peie Wright, Vance Jackson and Marshall Gillespie. On the front nine he had bird ies on holes 3, 4. 6 and 7; pars on 2. 5, and 8: and bogeys on 1 and 9. On the back nine he had bird ies on 11, 13, 14, 16. 17, and 18; pars on 10 and 12; and a bogey on 15 Robert is planning to go to the University of North Car olina at Chapell Hill next fall. The golf coach there would do well to get in touch with Robert. Some other school might just read about Robert’s golf ac complishments. Incidentally, Robert’s score must have encouraged his dad, Walter, since he went out on the front nine shortly there after and shot a 31. Witn tnis basic philosophy in mind, a cooperative effort is being made at this time to give the junior and senior high school pupils some choices within the framework of attractive and nutritionally adequate menus. During the past few weeks, representative committees or groups have been working with ithe County School Food Super visor and the lunchroom man agers of the two high schools. These committees or groups have been composed of student council members, teachers, par ents and principals. Beginning May 1st., it has been decided and approved to set up a Choice A Type meal pattern. The pattern choices are to be in the choice of a protein rich fond such as Peach Cobbler or lemon Pud ding. The vegetables and/or fruits for the day would meet the daily need for vitamin C and include vitamin A foods twice or more weekly. In addi tion, one serving of enriched or whole grain bread, butter and milk would be served with each meal. If this Choice A Type Lunch is backed and accepted by stud ents, parents and teachers, as evidenced by increased partici pation, the pattern will be con tinued next year and hopefully, will be extended to the ele mentary schools as quickly as equipment and personnel will permit. A quick Type A sandwich lunch line, for those students who prefer it, is being stud ied and planned for opera tion next year as space and Just because U.S Olympic oarsmen will wear Converse boat shoes, should you?
