Several News Items Are Reported From Cedar Mtf ' N«y Ups Mrs. Baby Skerrttt CEDAR MOUNTAIN — The regular monthly meeting of the Cedar Mountain Community Club will be held on Tuesday, June 22, at 7:30 p.m. at the center. All members are urged to be present This week is known as Day Camp Week at Camp Pick-A Trail. This is for Girl Scouts of all ages. Brownie Troop 99 is represented at Day Camp by four Brownies and their lead ers. Those attending are Sandy Woodring, Nira Jones, Donna Bishop and Cheryl McDaris. Mrs. Willene Bishop is one of the six Unit leaders and Mrs. Barbara Jones is her assistant. They will be attending camp each day through Thursday. The Home Demonstration Club of Cedar Mountain met on Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Joe Earl Jones. A lesson in crafts was taught by Miss Chil ders. Refreshments were serv ed by Mrs. Jones. Rocky Hill Baptist Church had as their special guests on Sunday night a quartet from Enon Baptist Church. One of the members of the quartet, Mr. Carl Bishop, was formerly of Cedar Mountain. The singing was enjoyed very much by everyone there. The Cedar Mountain 4-H Club was very well represented at the County Activities Day at the High School on Saturday by Misses Diane and Debbie Kisamore. These two girls have been hard at work as you can see from the ribbons they brought home. Diane won a blue ribbon for a Sunday dress she made and a red ribbon for making a pants suit. They were both shown in the Dress Review. <4>\ Debbie won a blue ribbon in Dairy Foods. Debbie can go to District and enter the Junior Contest, but she hasn’t made*, any decision yet: Mary Volrath, formerly of Cedar Mountain won # red ribbon for making an evening gown. Congratula tions to all you girls! The WMS of the Rocky Hill church met at the church on When yon think of prescrip tions, think of VARNER’S, adv. Wednesday at 1:30. All the members enjoyed a very inter esting lesson. Mrs. Cassie Smith has on her list of house guests Liz Foultz of Jacksonville, Florida, and also a great niece, Marla Nelms of Tampa, Florida. Cindy Allison of Brevard spent week before last with her grandmother, Mrs. Sadie Alli son. Miss Becky Green is now employed by the Hi Bunyan store for the summer months. Miss Ann McConnell was married last Saturday at the Fred W. Symmes Chapel at Camp Greenville. We wish her every happiness. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ship man have returned home after a trip to Newport News, Vir ginia where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Claude Allen and fam ily. Mr. and Mrs. Rob Hamby and Mrs. Lottie Hamby spent the weekend in Charlotte, N. C„ visiting Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hamby. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Lawton spent last week at their summer home here in Cedar Mountain. Sunday guests of Mrs. Sadie Allison and Mrs. Bill Jones in cluded Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Allen of Florence, S. C., Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Allen and fam ily of Raleigh, and Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Dunn of Anderson, S. C. Mrs. Geneva Jones returned home from the hospital on Fri iay. We hope she is feeling much better. The Bill Logans and Mrs. Ellen Lee have returned home ifter a trip to Jackson, Tenn., where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Browning and family. Oh "the sick list we find Anita, ' Betty Jean and Allen tones who are confined to their home with the measles. We sure hope they will soon be feeling better. The community extends their ieepest sympathy to the Senard Beasley family whose 'ather passed away last week. District Assembly Of Rotary Held Monday At The College Some 2N Ittariui from throughoutout District 7«7 attended the day-long Dis trict Assembly here Monday at Brevard College. The Assembly opened with a General Session at 9:30, with a General Session at 9:30, with Governor Charles M. Grier pre siding, and David R. LaFar, III, Governor-Elect, delivered the main address. This session was followed by Workshops for the newly elected dubs throughout the district. Another General Sessions, which featured a panel discus sion by former District Gov ernors, followed from 12:0b noon until 1:00 p.m. The Brevard Rotary dab was host to the luncheon at 1:15, with Rev. Otis Wheel house, the president, presid ing. Rev. Luther Lawing, of the College faculty, welcomed the Rotarians to the luncheon and the College. Bible School The Lake Toxaway Baptist church used the Sapphire IVhitewater Community De velopment Club building for .the past two weeks for Vacation Bible School. John Matson of Atlanta has been visiting his mother and cister. Mrs. Ratha Matson and Pamella the past week. Robert Hinkle of Selica, was a weekend visitor of his moth er. Mrs. Della Hinkle. The Charles Hinkle family of Greer, S. C., and daughter and son-in-law, and family, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Massey, and the former’s mother, Mrs. Della Hinkle were Sunday picnickers near Cashiers. Mr. and Mrs. Erik O. Hansen enjoyed a picnic on the Blue Ridge Parkway Sunday after noon. They report that the rhododendrons, mountain laurel and flame azaleas are getting beautiful. There seems to be a greater bloom of mountain laurel this year than in most years. It is really worth driving out to see. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Yoe man, of Sarasota, have arrived at their summer cottage. Mr. and Mrs. George Me Gettigan, of St. Petersburg, Fla., have arrived at Sapphire for their summer vacation. brought tivities of the day. There are 44 clubs in Dis trict 767. Next Monday, Jane 21st, the Brevard Rotary dab will meet as asaal at Gaither's at 12:15. The installation of new of ficers will be held the fol lowing Monday at a special installation banquet at Glen Cannon Country club. Ham, Chicken Dinners Will Be Served At Bethel Church On June 18th there will be a Ham and Chicken dinner at Bethel Baptist church. The dinner is being sponsor ed by members of the building fund. Serving begins at 4:00 p.m., and lasts until 8:00 p.m. There Mrs. Judith Dechant Allan Is ' Awarded Graduate Nursing Degree Mrs. Judith Dechant Allen received the Graduate Nursing degree from Rex Hospital School of Nursing at gradu ation exercised on June 4th. The traditional ceremony was held on the campus of North Carolina State University in Raleigh. Mrs. Allen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William G. De chant of 114 Hawthorne Drive, Brevard. She is a 1963 gradu ate of Brevard High School and will be take out service. Adults $1.50. children ,75c. attended the Baptist Hospital of Nursing in Winston Salem. She is married to Louis S. Allen, formerly of Rocking ham, and is the mother of a five-year old daughter, Susan Lynn. The Allens currently live in Garner.
