They will be celebrating their 76th Anniversary on this day. The regular morning service will be conducted by the pas tor, Rev. Z. D. Baker. Lunch will be served in the large fellowship hall about 12:15. The afternoon service will be directed by Ruel Whitmire and Ray Mehaffey, as co-direc tor. Special singers will be on hand to sing by special invita tion. The service will conclude about 3:00 o’clock in the after noon. Everyone has a special invi tation to this annual event. Rosman Personals Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Bruner returned home Sunday night from Columbus, Ga., where they spent two weeks with their son-in law and daughter, S. Sgt Donald W. Fisher and Mrs. Fisher. J. C. Galloway, who is em ployed in Rainelle, W. Va„ spent the weekend with hi3 family here. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Dish man entertained a family din ner Sunday. Guests present were Mr. and Mrs. James Fun derturke and children of Pick ens, S. C.; Mr. and Mrs. Van O’Kelley of Pisgah Forest: and Mr. and Mrs. Raymon Gallo way and children of Brevard. Mrs. Henry McCall spent sev eral days last week in Hender sonville wi'h her daughters, Mrs. Edna Thomas and Mrs. Reba Rose. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Whitmire and daughter Teresa spent the weekend in Savannah, Ga.. with S. Sgt. Joseph Hill and Mrs. Hill and Mrs. Reynol ga Franks. Mrs. Hill and Mrs. Franks are the daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Whitmire. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Jordan of Atlanta, Ga., were weekend guests of the latter’s mother, Mrs. T. P. Galloway. Mrs. Alma Rampey of Lib erty, S. C., recently spent two days as guest of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Collins. She also visited Mrs. D. L. Glazener. Mr. and Mrs. Manning Little ton of Rosman and Garvin, El mer, and Marion Littleton of Salem, S. C., were Sunday guests of Homer Littleton who is a patient in Memorial Mis sion hospital, Asheville^ where he recently underwent surgery. Mr. and Mrs. Talmadge Brooks spent the weekend in Clarkesville, Ga., with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Knight. AUSTIN HOGSED On September 25th at Sliver steen Memorial Stadium, each member of the 1971 Homecom ing Court awaited her turn to be escorted onto the football field, wondering who would be the lucky girl. Finally, the magic, The 1971 Homecoming Queen is — Miss Robin Smith.” After realizing it was true she and her escort, Robert Rax ter, made their way to the Queen’s throne. She was crown ed by Steve Whitmire, present ed roses by Jimmy McCall, and received kisses from the other two captains, Jimmy Hall and Weldon Whitmire. Robin is a sophomore and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin T. Smith. She was “Miss Sweetheart of 1970” and plans to be a physical education teach er. Other members of the court and their escorts were as fol lows: Miss Veda Morgan - Mike Fowler: Miss Gcrenna Owen - Troyce Chappell; Miss Kathy Queen - Robert Meyer; Miss Cindi Rock - Kevin Hop per; Miss Kathy Chapman - Rog er Petit; Miss Sandy McCall Lester Fox. Each member of the court and their escorts were present ed corsages by the Monogram Club. Revival Revival services will begin Sunday, October 3rd and con tinue through Friday, October 8th at the Rosman United Methodist church, with the Rev. John H. Green of Asheville, as the visiting speaker. Tentative plans are being made for group singing in addition to congrega tional singing. The pastor, the Rev. Henry M. King invites the public to attend the services which will be held each night at 7:30. Hinging The regular monthly singing will be held Sunday night at Zion Baptist church at 7:30. Among the groups expected TRY THE TIMES WANT ADS to be present are the famous Marksmen of Murrayville, Ga.; The Revelations of Sylva; and The True Tones of Glenville. Elmo Crowe, who is in charge of the arrangements, invites the public to attend. World-Wide Communion World - Wide Communion will be observed next Sunday, October 3rd. at the morning worship hour at all churches on the Ro-.man United Metho dist charge. The hours of the services are as follows: Englirh Chap el - 9 a. m.; Selica United Meth odist - 10 a. m.; and Rosman United Methodist - 11:15 a. m. The Rev. Henry M. King, pastor of the Rosman United Methodist Charge, invites the public to share in the holy ccmmunion. Meeting An important meeting of the Eastatoe Community club will be held Thursday night at the Club Center at 7:30. Committees will be announc ed, and a general business ses sion will be held. The club sponsored a very successful benefit party last Saturday night, and the next party will be held October 8th. Picnic Members of the Cherryfield Baptist church will have a pic nic Sunday at Camp Straus, following the regular morning service. Planned recreation will be a part of the afternoon program. The recreation committee, of which James Justice is chair man, is making the arrange ments. Car Wash The Young People of the Rosman Church of God will hold a car wash Saturday from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m. at Odell’s Shell Station. Proceeds will be used on the fund to purchase stained glass windows for the church. Shower The miscellaneous shower for Miss Diane Millard bride elect of Danny Powell which was originally scheduled to be held at the Rosman church of God parsonage, October 2nd wil be held at the Rosman Vol unteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad Building at 7:30. Everette O’Shields . —HIM . UT‘ ?*jy-•—* *•»!•••» Rosman Army Man Receives The Bronze Star Medal Sergeant First Class Ever ett A. O'Shiclds, formerly of Bosnian, has been awarded the Bronze Stir Medal for meritorious service in Viet nam. Assigned as the Adminis trative and Technical Assis tance Program Coordinator for the Army Material Com mand Logistics Assistance office in the Fepvblic of Viet nam, Sgt. O’Shields “display ed exceptionalism” in organ izing and managing his stiff “in a manner that expedi tiously dealt with the mvriad of logical requirements placed cn his office,” according to the citation. Set. O’Shields returned from Vietnam in mid Septem ber and is now assigned to duty in the Pentagon in Washington, where he will be working for the Joint Chiefs of Staff for the next three years. The Sergeant and Sirs. June O’.Shield*, the former .Time Owen, also of Rosman, are now living in Falls Church, Virginia. They have two sons in school in Fairfax County, Virginia. Little River Club To Meet Tuesday, Personals Reported By Mrs. George Hudgins LITTLE RIVER — A special meeting has been called for the Little River Community club by the President Gary Murdock on Monday October 4th at the com munity center beginning at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is urged to be present to help with plans for the community judging. A recognition service was held Sunday night for, Girls In Action at Little River Baptist church. Their theme was “We Follow Him”. Serving as ushers were: Con nie Hubbard, Carole Blythe, Brenda McCrary, Shelia Davis. Mrs. Lucy Bailev sang, “Each Step Of The Way”. Those receiving badges for Mission Adventures #1 were Denise Gray, Amy McClure, Annette McOary and Karen Whitmire. Those receiving badges for Mission Adventures #2 were: Karen Israel and Cathy Ponder. For Mission Ad ventures #3 were: Gina Hub bard and Kelly Merrill. Girls In Action leaders are Joan Justice, Peggie Guilkey, Elaine Hub bard, and Loretta Whitmire. Presiding, Margaret Kilstrom. Following the presentation, everyone was invited to the Fellowship Hall for refresh ments and to view the girls dis plays. Thirty six boys and leaders of the RA’s and Boy Scout troop 700 went on a trip to Marion last week.
