J. Lewis Thornburg, D.D., interim pastor. The entire month of Octo ber will be observed with spec ial services and activities ac cording to the announcement just released. The first Sunday in October, observed internna tionally as World Communion Sunday, will have special sig nificance, with every resident member urged to be present and participate in this meaning ful sacrament of the Church. Then on Tuesday night, Oc tober 5th, there will be a fellowship meal, featuring a covered dish menu, to which all of the families of the Par ish are invited. This gather ing is sponsored jointly by the three auxiliaries of Good Shepherd, the Lutheran Church Women; Lutheran Church Men, and the Luther League. A program of inter national flavor will be pre sented by Mr. and Mrs. An dreas Jensen, natives of Den mark, and now residents of Lake Toxaway. Sunday, October 24th, will be observed as Youth Sunday, with the young people present ing the program, and have a ma jor part in the worship of that day. Sunday afternoon the George Blairs, the Homer Hebbs and the T. Don Batsons attended the dedication of the new dor mitories at the Schenck Job Corps Center. The ceremony was brief but very appropos. Afterwards the guests toured the new facilities which are beautiful — also were given a guided tour of the rest of the buildings and campus and then a buffet supper was enjoyed by those in attendance. Julia and Maurice Howe spent last Tuesday in Hender sonville visiting the Philson sisters, Frances and Edith who are vacationing up here from their home in Sarasota. Rotha Matson and Kate Red dick played hookey one day last week and went a-roamin’ our hills. Getting the jump on the rest of us to see the coming of the glories of autumn. John Matson of Atlanta visit ed his mother, Mrs. Wm. Mat son and sister, Pamela, over the weekend.
